What is it doing that first alerted you it's going bad?

Since it is just starting to "go out" why not have Nissan service take a look at it before you buy a used one? Maybe it can be fixed.

Accelerating takes the rpms up to a high 4k-6k instead of the normal 2.5K-3K and its starting to have a faint whine to it while doing so i mean since the beginning when i bought it this tranny had always had that typical jutter to it while coming to a stop and occasionally driving off from a stop had nissan look at it back then but all they said was they couldnt replicate the issue yet again i live in san francisco and our nissan dealership closed a year and a half ago but the juttering when coming to a stop they have gotten harder since yesterday i mean my commute to my job is just around 4 miles and for now i will be babying it i am looking to fixing asap as i love this car its just that transmission that well you know …. Ill have a video posted very soon

Out of warranty what do you expect them to say yet again i used to have a 2008 Altima that had a failed cvt as well and this one is starting to do the exact same things that one did

I didn't say they would fix it for free. It might be cheaper then buying a used one and having it installed. But after reading your last response it sounds there was something wrong with your CVT from day one. I can honestly say I have never had any sort of judder coming to a stop, or from a start with either my 2020 SL, or my 2014 Altima. Accelerating and coming to a stop is as smooth as can be. I put 149,000 miles on my Altima in a little over 5 years before I traded it in and I never had any issues with the CVT. Car Part Planet might have some refurbished Maxima CVT's.

Sorry to hear about that, while nissan CVTs have improved, there still a few bad ones out there. Hopefully the dealer can offer a good option.

I ran across this online, seems like a good price...
https://spprecision.com/products/nis...yABEgIAWPD_BwE

I don’t know if you can buy a brand new one, that would preferred... but I can’t seem to find any information about that online.

IMO, I wouldn't even buy a used low mileage CVT since it's unlikely you'll get any history on it. Previous owner may have beat on the car and you would never know. If you love your Max, I would pony up the money to have it rebuilt by a reputable shop, or have a shop install a fully refurbished transmission that comes with a decent warranty.

Darn, mistake made, but that makes sense. Right now I am getting that slight hesitation coming to a stop and taking off from a stop. All of a sudden engine is slightly louder after some highway driving. Just bought it used, 2018 SL with 25,000 miles on it. Will keep a close eye on it.

That sucks to hear man! Was your car driven hard or anything? Any towing done with it? Heavy loads? Hope you come to a good resolution soon.

So you never tested it out to see the 0-60 or never floored the pedal once, you bought a 300 HP car to drive slow.....I find that hard to believe and don't wanna sound like a jerk but Nissan needs to fix that car for free IMO. its not even that old at all. It seams like these CVTs are getting worse, my 09 with 200k is still going strong, and once in a while I give it a beating too. Good luck bro hope you get a good deal.

One of the first Gen 8 CVT's I've heard of going south.

"typical jutter to it while coming to a stop" This is atypical, not typical. Sorry to hear this.

honestly in all the time ive owned my max theres only around 3 times that ive exceeded going over 90 since i have a 350z i have my fun in and since i bought the car i knew that nissan had those cvt problems and that was the major reason i never pushed that car …… what trully sucks is that i had just finished swapping out the front end for the newer fascia
