CVT error on OBD diagnostic

Greetings, I had 85k miles on my 2016 maxima and it's has been a blessing. Recently I took the car to local mechanic to change a dead headlight front bulb (dealer needed long time to get the bulb) and he ran an OBD diagnostic which showed a CVT error. Now, I have not had any major signs of CVT issues and the car had been always dealer maintained as per Nissan's recommendation. I don't drive it hard and it shifts and drive smoothly. The only thing I did notice is that I do hear a faint rumbling sounds during early acceleration from stop when the RMP below 2k that dissappear after that (more noticeable if the AC is on) , though I don't hear that sound if I drove it using manual shifts. I asked a friend who know someone used to work in nissan services and told him that the car is doomed and to sell ASAP!!! I went to the dealer for an Oil change since and no issues was reported. Now I am wondering how reliable are these error codes that someone's get through the OBD? And if it's true early signs of problems, what are the options down the road.

Would you share the code with us?

Once you found out the CVT tripped an error code, why in the world would you take it to the dealer for an oil change and not mention it?
