Oil leak possbility?

I went for an oil change and they suggested that there could be an oil leak showing me these pictures.

They first had to do shampoo(?) my car in order for them to be able to inspect it.

They did shampoo but they were closing soon so they couldn't do the inspection so I couldn't get the answer today.

I wonder if these pictures indicate if there is an oil leak. My car is 2017 and I bought it used.

Thank you for your insights in advance. Thank you!

Any oil on the ground where you park it?

No, I don't think so.

The thing is there's this smell again after the oil change.

I smelled this before when I got this car used.

The dealership changed the oil before selling the car.

So I relate this smell to an oil change.

Wondering if its normal?

It smells good though..

It looks a bit like the oil cooler seal (kind of common leakage point) $10 for a new seal, less than half an hour to replace. The oil filter sets on the oil cooler. Remove the filtet, remove the cooler with one bolt, and replace the seal. Just be careful not to damage the threads where the filter screws on

when replacing the oil cooler seal you need to drop the oil and also drain the radiator… I’ve done this on my 2005 max it’ll take more like 2hrs plus to complete the job . As a side note could also be the last place that changed the oil didn’t replace the drain plug gasket (had this happen to my car dealer didn’t change it the tech apparently just added another gasket causing a drip at the drain plug ). I had oil all over the place like your pictures. Either way I’d start by placing a piece of cardboard box under your car after using a see if there’s drips then go from there .

No need to drain radiator on newer gens. Just drain oil, remove oil filter, remove the oil filter nipple (this holds the cooler to the engine, no need to disconnect water lines) replace nipple and (new filter) and voila, done.

surgery performed on the ‘17 after notice oil sweating by cooler

Jack up and removed pass-tire and fender guard to expose filter, belts and real estate.

removed oil filter only

(can’t recall socket size, pull off oil cooler bolt

coolant line going towards front bumper- removed the two 10mm bolts to put slack on cooler hose

twist cooler to expose seal , then plucked out old cooler seal

applied grease to new cooler seal and insert into spline

reverse procedure / buttoned up, done in 15 minutes

lost only the oil in filter, and a treckle from cooler.

surprising, the 2011 SV w 310k miles has the original seal and no issue; the 17 showed cooler oil sweating signs to perform surgery
🤔🤔🤔🤔
