I stole your coilovers and replaced them with my blown ones while you were at the dentist.

Just kidding. It was the picture from the first page. It was perfect for a diagram. Hope you didnt mind!

Ok, how safe is it to ride on blown struts? I am leaking slightly at the top of my two lefts. Nothing major, just a bit of oil like I had sparyed a bit of WD40 on or something, not a lot. Could this mean that there is no oil left, or the seal isnt completely gone?

You can go a long time riding on blown shocks. Safety is not an issue, but it might ruin other suspension components. Basically if the ride doesnt both you then dont replace it. I finally replaced mine when it was pissing me off and I couldnt stand the thump of the blown shock.

Oh no, its not firm. I swear, I hit a bump or dip in the road, its like riding on hydraulics.

MR Duck, how much does it cost for just a new strut? That might be a wicked idea, I was waiting for Christmas because (a) Ill have $, and (b) I wont need my car much, so I could get a rebuild.

Ok, yeah, thanks. I found out that fronts are 120 + s/h, and rears are 100 + s/h.

Thanks for the info!

I had my car on ramps today. My two rear shocks are blown. One is the original I got 2 years ago and one is exactly a year old (was replaced with warranty). Just thought I would let you guys know. I called KSport today and they assured me the new ones won't blow.

Is this ksport admitting their original dampeners are garbage?
I'm waiting on my last original to blow.

I want to know when they stopped giving out their originals. The replacement I got last September (2006) is blown. I thought they fixed them by then???

So!! Hold up! While getting fed up with this garbage about mine being blown, seller lying, etc... I was going to go Koni + GCs...but you guys are saying that the newer dampers are built better? This makes it possible to not go through the hassle of buyin new junk.!

i forget when thye "upgraded the seals" supposedly one of the ones i got is the upgraded one but maybe they have improved them a couple times? i dont know...obviously one of those things you dont go advertising if the first batch was such trash. at least they are though, makes me feel A LITTLE TINY BIT better about investing into these things more if one does blow.

IIRC they redesigned them to last longer and to reduce the number of blows.....My are about a month or two old and They are riding just fine....I was on full hard for a couple weeks too.....

Still...Im weary about keeping these/investing into them. Sure it would be cheaper to get new struts($440 + shipping total) than to buy Konis, GC, etc...and sell these...I think.

Nevermind...selling the ksports and getting Koni/GC will be about 200 more than getting new struts...I must ponder.

I slow for everything...dips in the road, holes. Anything I can slow down for, I do. I hate highway construction though.

Hey guys does anybody know the best way to keep the Spring Perches on tight and not losing up .. I always tighten them take a brass punch to them AND i even silicone the bottom of them so they don't move and loosen up. Well that didnt work. Any other inputs ?

I tighten mine against the collar. Works for me. I use a rubber mallet to tap the wrenches and get them tight.

Hey, is that a shotty in your avatar? It almost looks like an SPR though...

I am having a problem with the rears...when I try to loosen the collar to adjust ride height, both the collar and the part that it is up against turn together thus unscrewing from the lower shock mount (see photo). Everything below the collar is supposed to function as one piece, but it is made of 2 that are screwed together and they are coming apart. Has anyone else had this happen? How do I get the collar to break loose from the part below it and get the two lower parts to stay together?

ohhhhh it's probably so they can fit the on several different vehicles. the bottom mount stays the same and the threaded part is different length for different vehicles.

Use channel locks to hold the lower orange tube while loosening. Im not sure how to keep the bottom mount and tube together however.
