Ok, to make sure...when I have the car up, wheel off, only on one side, will the strut be at full length? If so then its easy for me to measure preload...

I called them up about 3 hours ago and they are sending me out a set of these. I just had to pay shipping because my Ksports are over a year old. They are free if you can prove you've had them for less than a year. I paid 9 bucks for shipping.

The above is a VERY inaccurate way of measuring how the car will sit evenly. There are a couple factors that can change that as far as i know. How the car is jacked up and the height its jacked up to plays a role. Also the piston in the strut will have to be basically in the same position on both sides. you have to set the preload to do that which is very hard to make even. how the front sits will also affect the rear height. i have tried to make them even and some how it still didn't sit level. i think it has something do to with the compression of the strut piston.

How far off are you? Its weird, if I need to adjust it by say 1/4 inch, and I move the bottom mount up 1/4 in on the threads, it will turn out different...its weird.

Thanks for the help, I figured it wasn't the best way. I just was trying to make sure that (a) my preload was the same and (b) the collars were in the same/similar position, giving me same height.

What I like to do after I adjust the height is to push down on that corner of the car because I feel everything settle after i do that. or you could take it for a drive because when you adjust the hieght it will settle down like 1/8 of an inch more. are you near CT at all i can help you adjust them. I get pissed off if each side is 1/16" off from each other. it's basically trial and error -get a pump jack

Go down lower than 25.5"!!!!!!!!!!!! I would like to get into the 23" but the struts are hitting the axle boots in front. I'm at 24" dead on right now...

G4nismo, I need one? Not my pic, FYI, but yeah, I do...haha.

5speed...DUDE! 25.75 is 2" down(from what I was told)...thats a big drop. Im thinking 25.5" all around. I already have a worsening CV, I would rather it stay alive a bit longer...

IMO, it depends. First off, I'd say yes, but make sure that the lube doesn't harm/deteriorate the rubber at all...

Oh, 985speed, you said theyre free if they're les than a year old, but if theyre older then we only have to pay for shipping? Mine are old, just used very little...

disassembling the shocks takes awhlie. Especially if you dont adjust them often, sometimes the collars are really stuck on a certain position. I've had to use my vice for alot of that ****.
I might try to get a set of these, but i dont really get any noises so i'm not too worried about it.

That is my old Maxima. I did a 97-99 front bumper and tried the 96 grille on for size.

Ok, quick Q. What does the strut oil look like? Is it almost a diluted Soy sauce color?

yea it's kinda brown i think and smells funny. basically if you have any type of oil/liquid around the shock that is not good. lift up the rubber dust boot and if there is oil underneath it call up ksport. the shock oil also collects dirt, you will notice a working shock will be mad clean. here are a couple pictures of blown shocks:

Ok, yeah mine is DEFINITELY not that bad. Its a little dirt and oil in the threads, a bit on the boot, nothing leaking on the floor or anything. I do think it's wearing/goin bad. I heard $120 for a rebuilt correct?

Oh, thanks for the pics BTW!
