Wait, really? I dont think that it would do anything...as long as you are only spinning the strut into the bottom mount?

But then the preload collars will technically be spinning while the strut is moving? I don't know maybe we are talking about two different things?

Nah, see the preload collars are staying on the same spot on the strut. This is what allows the height adjustment. Thus, there should not be any chance in the distance from perch to perch if all that is happening is the strut is spinning. Right?

I might get what you are saying, what i don't understand is if you do that will it make for less movement in the piston of the shock, because as you raise/lower the suspension that way the piston is just moving up or down...but i cant see how the preload collars can stay in the same place.

Just above the threads there is a [] shape just where the adjustment wrench goes in. You could try using that.

You know how two weeks ago I put in two new rear replacements? Well I'm pretty sure one of them is blown already...

Put vise grips on the strut piston to keep it still, then you will be able to get the nut off.

Yes, it is a rear one that is just about two weeks old.

I was driving on some horrible roads the other night, which probably caused it to blow, but less than two weeks old you have to be kidding me. That's like less than 1k miles...

You can tell if its blown by seeing if oil is under the dust boot on the shock. if you go over a bump the shock will be very noisy and harsh. It will almost feel like the car is dragging over the bump, instead of just hitting it. Basically KSports blow 24/7, so if you think you have a blown shock you probably do have one.

A couple months I think, it's not unsafe or anything to drive with one. It's just VERY annoying.

Ive got 2, maybe 3 blown. Not sure, and with my luck, probably 4...haha. I can only see oil on 2, but it was rainy and wet so hard to tell. I dont think all 4 are blown though.

Been riding on them since August 22. Ill probably ride on them until after Christmas.

Well it depends, if you call them up try to get them to send you a shock and then once you get it send them the blown one. They have always done that for me, but I don't know if they regularly do it. All 5 replacement shocks I have gotten looked completely brand new. I don't think they actually rebuilt many of them because the threads are perfect on the replacements I've received.

Check the piston shaft for signs of wear. Like, little marks from stuff from sliding in and out of the housing.

Ok, so after 30 minutes to an hour of driving, my back hurts. Is this due to my blown shocks or is this normal with the stiffness of Ksports? Im only 17, and occasionally have back pain if I ride in the van for hours.

I dont know what kind of roads you guys are driving on but my k-sports lasted a while before anything blew. Then I got warranty on the shocks and switched out to softer rated springs. Since then I have no problems and its been almost a year.

WTF is "the van" LOL.

But yeah, when I first had D2s I used to get fairly tired from driving. Mainly highway expansion joints. Around town they are no biggie and you get used to the highway dance.

LOLz@ at BlackMaxima being the strut killer.

Oh wow...no, sorry to dissapoint, the van as in the thing we take on vacation...

Im thinking that a new set of struts will help with them being so rough. Im on full stiff, it gives me the least bounce/jerking(ironically). Full soft is horrid.

Sounds like the springs on these are way too stiff for the shocks. They would ride and handle better with softer ones...

Well, I know that at least 2 are blown, maybe three. I know that this would cause horrible ride, but I dont want to spend $440 on 4 new struts if I'm not going to like the outcome...and end of back at stock(and later Koni + GC)...I want to know if, when I replace all of my struts, is it going to ride just as stiff?

i know this info was mentioned somewhere but can't find it.
what is the normal spring rate for the ksport?
what softer spring rates did you switch over to?

6 in just over 2 years.

I put some Ksport coilovers in my friend maxima last night. I guess he got the new spring rates? the car rode soooo good. i might try to get the softer springs from KSport because they keep sending me shocks hahaha
