its a very easy install once u get all your old stuff off the car.
1. remove stock stuff
2. enlarge tq member bolts from 12mm to 14mm
3. remove or cut down dust shield
4. install everything from the 6th gen

thats basically what needs to be done to make it work.

i have that setup and i love everything about it

I'd recommend going with our Front OE caliper big brake kit. The kit comes with new caliper brackets to fit larger rotors. It is bolt-on and does not require any drilling or modifing the OE setup.

For 89-99 Maxima's we have a 332x24mm kit, and for the 00-03 Maxima's we have a 324x24mm kit.

Check out more info here:

hmmm....

I've had good dealings with racingbrake in the past (and GRM talks you up), but....

For less money than that kit you can just get 6th gen calipers ($150/pair) and 6th gen rotors ($150/pair) and they bolt DIRECTLY to our spindles and are a perfect fit (with more pad contact area than the 4th/5th gen calipers, I might add.

Hell, it's costing me about the same to do my 300ZX brake conversion as your 1-piece rotor/bracket kit costs by itself....

Are there any pics for which holes need to be drilled? Or am I going to know right after I take things apart?

the only holes you will be dealing with are the holes where the caliper attaches to the spindle assembly.

Sounds good. I also need to know if the setup will clear stock 98 se rims? I'm not getting rims for a little while but I need desperate work on my brakes.

I am assuming that the 6th gen calipers will bolt up to our stock lines? I have Goodridge SS brake lines and would not want to change them.

i dont think that would clear 16" due to the height of the caliper...but dont take my word on it.

i don't see how bolting on this kit will affect your abs? i know it will bolt on but i say ask someone that has abs about this since i dont have abs. and ill get the pics of my kit up later today

edit: here is a pic, my car is dirty and i dont drive it to much anymore so just pretend you dont see the dirt or rust.
but my setup is:
6th gen rotors
6th gen calipers painted black with 6th gen tq member
oem 6th gen pads
4th gen brake lines and oem bleeders
and 18" x 7.5 rims i forget the offset

i'll get better pics once i get my car washed

I have the 6th Gen front brakes on my 98 I30 with ABS.

Awesome stopping power. I've used it in panic mode a lot, several times because I had to. Never a problem.

with the clearence liqidvenom has with his 18s looks like you'd probably need atleast 17s to clear them, cant be sure without measuring though

17's would be the smallest i would assume you can fit over these. as a rule of thumb....since this came off of a 6thgen wat ever wheels fit on that car over these brake will also work on our cars. and the 6th gen doesnt have a 16" rim possibility i think.

I have a 2001 Maxima with the stock 17" rims. What would be the best front brake system with the least customization (like grinding 4-5 mm from rotors).

Yes, you need at LEAST a 17" wheel to clear this...

go to http://www.mattblehm.com/brakes.htm
there is a template somewhere on there where you can measure to see if brakes will fit...most likely though, the best and most cost effective upgrade that will fit under your wheels will be the A34 setup...but even that will be a very tight fit...

What write up do you need? Drill the hole to 14mm and bolt on the pieces.

Do you have wheel spacers to clear the brakes?

nope, the brakes fit like a freaking glove. There's probably 1 or 2 mm between the caliper and the inside of the wheel...
