Drilled and Slotted Rotors and Noise

For everyone who has drilled and slotted rotors how do they compare with blanks with regards to noise? This is for the Cobra BBK setup and I plan on using Nissan OEM pads. I've read a lot and there are a lot of mixed comments I can't tell if noises are attributed to the pads, the rotors or both.

I have never heard of drilled rotors causing noise, mine never have.

What kinda rotors do you guys suggest? I have owned a 2000 and a 2001 and I have gone through 4 sets of rotors already between the two cars. I am sick of replacing rotors!

crossdrilling on vented rotors have a "zzz...zzz...zzz...zzz...." sound that is proportional to wheel speed. It's very mild but noticeable...

1. to the original question...get blanks. period. There is no need for drilled or slotted unless you're just doing it for looks.

2. maximamass...why have you gone through 4 sets of rotors? Might I ask if you're using Nissan or OEM replacement (i.e. autozone/pep boys/etc) basic pads?

to Irish's 1. comment

After having both x-drilled/slotted iRotors and switching to Brembo blanks, I find very little different between the two. I did notice that my iRotors did begin to crack around the drilled holes, so to those that have this type of rotor, make sure you periodically check for cracks (on both sides).

Are you sure your front rotors are causing the problems? After I did my fronts twice I thought wtf, then replaced the rear rotors and pads and boom! Problems solved. My rears were causing the car to shake real bad when I would hit the brakes at just about any speed.

How do you figure out if its the front or rears?

Well, I redid the fronts and took it for a drive and had the same annoying problems so I just took a chance and replaced the rear rotors and pads. The car would act like I was letting off the brake and then pushing on the brake when trying to stop everytime. It got worse the faster I went. It was like the rotor was bent! Got the cheapest rear rotors at Napa $25 each? And rear pads were around $20.

So, now I have some extra front rotors sitting around that are still good.

I know someone knows how to figure out if the rears or front are warped. It has something to do with setting the parking brake lightly.

I went through two stock sets (one on each car) second set on the first car was from Autozone or something. The second set on my 2001 are the drilled and slotted rotors.

Their is no different in "noise" between drilled & slotted rotors and regular blank rotors.
