blehmco BBK problems
blehmco BBK problems
I've been having rubbing problems on and off over the past year, and can't seem to fix the problem. It is a rubbing sound that mostly occurs when turning, but has been happening lately just at cruising speeds (going in a straight line). My brake/wheel/suspension setup is as follows:
Mille Miglia EVO 5 17X8
5mm H&R wheel spacers with extended studs (front obviously)
Ingalls camber bolts
Tein Basic Coilovers
235/45 General Exclaims
blehmco BB conversion kit (lines, brackets, hardware, etc)
12.6" slotted 6th gen iRotors
30mm 300zx Calipers
Has anyone else had this problem before with this setup? I believe that the rubbing is coming from the inside of my rotors. I have completely removed the dust shields, that removed almost all the sound, but didn't remove it completely. Could it have to do with the fact that my coilovers are a little lower than a standard drop, and that camber is effecting the angle of the rotor therefore causing the rotor to rub on something? Also, if my wheels aren't torqued down very tight, the sound is even worse. Any help is appreciated.

Are you sure you're not rubbing on the spring/strut/coilover assembly anyplace?

Lets not start a thread title by bashing a good vendor's product

I am certainly not bashing his product, I'm just trying to find out if anyone else has had this problem before.
I remember reading something last night talking about a certain noise that the 300z calipers tended to make on some occasions, that alot of people using those calipers had experienced.
I can't for the life of me remember what thread it was in though!!!

Exactly the same thing mine does. It comes from the passenger side as well.
Check your coilover collars first. Please let me know. I had the same issue until I tightened mine. They happened to move 1/16 of an inch during progressive turning. I didn't notice till I pulled off the wheel and was moving the rotor around
I have the same tires and wheels(18x8forme) as well. Just a different suspension. But it did this with the old tires too. I have yet to contact matt. Maybe he will chime in-in this thread.

I’ll be doing this soon, hesitant to get spacers if not needed.

I have a 40 offset on the pass side now since I had a bent wheel and I still need the spacer.

What sucks more is that it’s gonna force me to get spacers in the rear to make the car look good again.
Hope you guys figure out the noise issue before I finish this up!
are you all using iron or aluminum calipers. when i was running iron calipers the gap for the rotors on the iron even though still being 30mm they were a bit more narrow than the aluminum ones. and i would get a rubbing noise. it sounded like the capilers were rubbing too close on the rotors and werent spinning freely. when i switched to the aluminum capilers the problem was eliminated.
check and see if the calipers are rubbing against the rotor in a spot. the Z calipers aren't the absolute best on being consistent on the gapping internally. I've seen a few calipers that need a washer to space them around just a bit compared to others.
also take a look at your wheel bearings. I had a noise like that several years ago that I thought was related to my brakes (it started shortly after installing a brake kit).. it wound up being a wheel bearing that was a bit sloppy and causing the rotor to rub against the caliper. replaced the wheel bearing and eveyrthing was fine after that.

Well mine makes no noise when initially driving, it starts randomly after braking. and I did have to use washers to space the caliper properly, but I don't remember what side. I will take it apart and put it back together once I find my wheel lock key
