3.5 in a 4th gen
ok i am tilleys99's gf and i just bought dex's 97 max.... we want to put a 3.5 bottom end in my max and i just wanted to know if anyone has attempted this besides tilley.... thanks

yeah he already has the motor, which he was gonna throw in his max, but he needs rods and a flywheel and an intercooler yet, so he is just going to run his 3.0's til they blow up... i want a fast all-motor max, he can turbo his and it will be all good lol.... and congrats on your babies...well when they come... they are a handful but def worth it cause they grow up to adore you and idolize your every move (which isnt always a good thing) good luck with them

just wondering, if you're going through the trouble of installing a 3.5 bottom end, why not swap the whole thing?

I brought up the VQ33DE stroke while the org was down over on max-world. Apparently the stroke from the 3.5 crank will push the pistons through the heads (according to some one) I don’t think this is the case. The VQ35DE is the same block but bored and stroked to get to the 3.5L mark. I plan on getting all the specs on both engines and see if this is true. orrrrr... some one could spare me and my mechanics time and post the info about the 3.5 crank and relation to 3.0 rods etc etc.
I know the mains are the same (.: plug and play) but the journals may be different and require different rods. If the journals are not compatible with the 3.0 rods the whole project would be a waste of money.
Another possibility is to use the 3.5 crank and rods with 3.0 pistons, since the VQ30 block cannot be bored out enough for the 3.5 pistons.
feedback is welcome... wanted
Since I only have vq30de manuals I can only provide the specs for it, I think this is all the relative information, so if some one with a VQ35DE manual could post a corresponding specs.

stock ecu, competition clutch flywheel, centerforce dual friction clutch (was in car prior and was in excellent condition till the 3.5 got a hold of it), stock lsd 5spd, obx headers, udp, jwt cams, vq30det heads, with 3.5 headgaskets.

Rob centerforce sucks.. they start slipping after 10k miles

Why would i want to get rid of the cams they are awesome and give nice high rpm power, if there is anyone out there sayin they suck they are not doing something right or maybe you just think they are bad cause only a few people have em.

VQ30DET? nissan made vq30 only in 4th gen maximas. where did you get the vq30det from? and how much in the end this cost you? and do you think it will make more power and get better numbers than a vq35 engine? i think just doing a complete vq35 swap is easier than having to tear the engine down and getting up a buch of parts without knowing how they will work together. what kind of compression because those eningines will not run high compression on regular gas. that is what i think.

And i dont know whats harder to do but i would say what your doing is harder because he's driving around and your not

so looks like just doing the same swap as me is the cheaper way. i picked a 2k2 max for parts for $1550. and my car is not driving right now because i did not get my frankencar intake yet. and still no pics of the swap at all. didnt you take pics while doing the swap? i took a huge amount of pictures cause it is one of a kind .

FYI the VQ30DET comes with 9:1 compression

If you cant take it apart and do internal work you may as well keep it stock. its a cool swap for you with the 3.5 complete swap but thats just too simple and boring. I am in to doing that off the wall odd ****, just wait till i find a 05 frontier vq40de then its on for my max (which is turbo 6spd) this all motor is my girls
