yeah he already has the motor, which he was gonna throw in his max, but he needs rods and a flywheel and an intercooler yet, so he is just going to run his 3.0's til they blow up... i want a fast all-motor max, he can turbo his and it will be all good lol.... and congrats on your babies...well when they come... they are a handful but def worth it cause they grow up to adore you and idolize your every move (which isnt always a good thing) good luck with them

just wondering, if you're going through the trouble of installing a 3.5 bottom end, why not swap the whole thing?

I brought up the VQ33DE stroke while the org was down over on max-world. Apparently the stroke from the 3.5 crank will push the pistons through the heads (according to some one) I don’t think this is the case. The VQ35DE is the same block but bored and stroked to get to the 3.5L mark. I plan on getting all the specs on both engines and see if this is true. orrrrr... some one could spare me and my mechanics time and post the info about the 3.5 crank and relation to 3.0 rods etc etc.
I know the mains are the same (.: plug and play) but the journals may be different and require different rods. If the journals are not compatible with the 3.0 rods the whole project would be a waste of money.
Another possibility is to use the 3.5 crank and rods with 3.0 pistons, since the VQ30 block cannot be bored out enough for the 3.5 pistons.

feedback is welcome... wanted

Since I only have vq30de manuals I can only provide the specs for it, I think this is all the relative information, so if some one with a VQ35DE manual could post a corresponding specs.

There was one member that did the 3.3L stroke by simply droping in the 3.5L crank and rods. According to him, the fit was exact and no modifications were needed. Everything else was from the 3.0L. He had pics so.....

i was kidding guys. the vq35 is in my car and it is runningg also. the only thing that is keeping me from driving the car is some wiring and waiting for my intake from frankencar but they are not rersponding to me at all.

Yeah, it was Dixit. I don't think he ever turned the car over though...just dropped it in to see if it would fit.

Where did this 3.5L engine originate from? 03 or 04 max?

Has anyone thought of doing a vq35 bottom end with 2k-2k1 heads, and a VIAS? I've been contemplating that for a while now.

What im going to do IF i do this is ,just use my 96 heads with the 00VI. On the 3.5 block with aftermarket internals so i can keep my 8000rpm redline

stock ecu, competition clutch flywheel, centerforce dual friction clutch (was in car prior and was in excellent condition till the 3.5 got a hold of it), stock lsd 5spd, obx headers, udp, jwt cams, vq30det heads, with 3.5 headgaskets.

thanks for the info! so basically everything on the car is still from a vq30de (tb, flywheel, udp, ecu) except the vq35 short block, gasket and vq30det heads?

From what I read you'll want to get rid of the cams ASAP.

Why would i want to get rid of the cams they are awesome and give nice high rpm power, if there is anyone out there sayin they suck they are not doing something right or maybe you just think they are bad cause only a few people have em.

Well there is someone with them. He has no power until like 4k rpm. Below that his car is barely moving. The again he has them in his 3L.

VQ30DET? nissan made vq30 only in 4th gen maximas. where did you get the vq30det from? and how much in the end this cost you? and do you think it will make more power and get better numbers than a vq35 engine? i think just doing a complete vq35 swap is easier than having to tear the engine down and getting up a buch of parts without knowing how they will work together. what kind of compression because those eningines will not run high compression on regular gas. that is what i think.

the heads are jdm, im not up to date on this but somewhere in japan they made a vq30det.... the original plan was to put the whole 3.5 in tilleys max but then i bought mine and, well new ideas formed cause i like all motor.... he got a deal on the whole motor and 6spd tranny (which is in his max) the cams cost 1100 and he had the heads so when he reads this he can tell you more costs... and compression is 11.5:1 and it runs fine on 93.

so looks like just doing the same swap as me is the cheaper way. i picked a 2k2 max for parts for $1550. and my car is not driving right now because i did not get my frankencar intake yet. and still no pics of the swap at all. didnt you take pics while doing the swap? i took a huge amount of pictures cause it is one of a kind .

How about dumping a whole VQ35 in a 3rd gen? Would that technically work? I mean, getting an old 89 or 90 for 1.5k would be less costly than a 4th gen.

VQ30DET is an engine created in 1995 and is featured in the Nissan Cedric and Gloria in Japan. At 5.5 PSI the motor puts out 280 hp and 285 tq.

If you like playing with wires and ecu maps with both FSM then yeah .. go right ahead.

maxima's have no problems running high compression, the stock compression of the VQ30DE is 10:5:1, people have been running boost as high as 14 PSI with 93 octane and have had no problems. I think the VQ30DE can running 12:1 compression without a problem on pump gas, but how would you know this? You don't have a boosted car or a high compression NA Car.

FYI the VQ30DET comes with 9:1 compression

If you cant take it apart and do internal work you may as well keep it stock. its a cool swap for you with the 3.5 complete swap but thats just too simple and boring. I am in to doing that off the wall odd ****, just wait till i find a 05 frontier vq40de then its on for my max (which is turbo 6spd) this all motor is my girls
