Need socket size to do engine work...

Need socket size to do engine work...

What allen key socket size do I need to take off timing chain guide and to take off the heads. SR20 told me but I forgot.

You need 6mm, 8mm and a 10mm to remove the head bolts. The 10mm needs to be a 1/2" drive tohold all the torque it will see.

And buy Craftsmen or better. I broke one 10mm cheapie and bent the hell out of a Craftsmen 10mm.

The Snap-On 10mm 1/2" drive allen socket is the only thing I have never broken while R&R SR20DE cylinder heads. It's better to use the Snap On, Mac, Cornwell, Matco, etc. stuff for Nissan heads. The cheap stuff will just break.

I stripped the two 8mm ones in the head. Now what? Do I really need to take off heads to take out crank?

8mm on the heads?????(10mm)?????only one 8 mm i know of on the motor???(Chain guide)??? I am lost but good luck, and get er done.

BTW no need to remove the heads too pull the crank but good luck with 6 rods hanging there in your way...........Why are you pulling the crank???????
