Sizes of Various Throttle Bodies

Help me fill in the blanks:

Throttle Body . . . . . . . . Diameter (mm)
VQ30DE
VQ30DE-K
VQ35DE
Pathfinder (VG or VQ?)

Which TBs will fit on a VQ30DE without too much trouble? How about the DE-K intake manifold (I plan to do the 2KVI mod)? How much bigger of a TB do you need for a N/A 4th gen? Is the Pathfinder TB overkill? Are there other factors?

The ones I know for sure are VQ30DE and DE-K = 60mm, Pathfinder VQ35 = 70mm.

For a NA VQ30 engine, a Pathfinder TB is overkill, unless maybe you had a variable intake and extended redline.

Thanks. Is the Maxima VQ35 TB the same? I think Tilley said it was 75mm. I wonder how big the 350Z TB is.

It is Drive By Wire, so no point of using...

Ah yes. But the 2001 Pathfinder TB has a mechanical linkage?

Thanks for posting this Tom. I always had the misconception that the 30DE TB was 63mm.

We'll see how the porting of my TB goes. I think there is a lot to be gained from reducing flow hindrances such as screw threads and rod size. I betcha its good for slight power. But hey, its free.

Ok this is what we have so far.
TB Sizes

95-99 VQ30DE: 60mm
00-01 VQ30DE-K: ??
02-03 VQ35DE: ??
04-06 VQ35DE: ??
00-01 Pathfinder VQ35DE 70mm? or 75mm?
02-06 350Z: ??

I know some have Drive by wire but it's interesting to know the sizes per app.

You forgot the DE-K, which is also 60mm per StephenMax.

Good deal, soon as the 02-06 350Z TB size is comfirmed, this should be added to the stickies. Pretty useful info

The Q45 TB is 90mm with drive-by-cable but it's definitely overkill, unless maybe you're MardiGrasMax

but to add to the stickies

It can be converted to cable using VQ30 brackets quite easily.

Sweet How big is to big, I've been looking at several different Pathy's and 02'-06 VQ35DE'sTB's
Do you think I'll see any gains with the 70mm TB NA on race gas. I went back with the original MEVI.
Now thinking about it Jcalw might be right you can convert the DW. Has anyone done this?

you need the 70mm when you're putting much more air into the engine.. it is also great for top end, and responce is better..

if i recall you have the 3.5L cams, and with the MEVI so you would benefit from a larger TB.

Just for comparison, since area = πr², the ratio of the areas is the ratio of the squares of their radii.

60mm = 900π mm²
70mm = 1225π mm²

So the 70 mm TB has 36% more capacity than the 60mm TB.

90mm is way too big for any of us as the IM couldn't be bored out enough to accept it. Custom IM would be required to utilize it.

And has anyone measured any of the Xterra and Frontier TBs? I know they have dual cable attachments on the 2001 Xterra and 2003 Frontier, but they seem to be 60 mms....... They sure look like the Maxima TB..
