E-GAS to cable TB in less than 20 minutes!!
Well I was messing around with my TB's tonight, and I decided to take apart the VQ35 TB, and the VQ30 TB. Man the 3.5 Tb is huge compared to the 3.0's. Well I found an EASY way to convert the E-Gas to Cable, this is what I made in 20 min:
The cable plate from the 4th gen maxima bolts onto the 3.5TB butterfly rod PERFECTLY, you just need to add a small washer for it to clear.
Things to make it work:
1.The TB was flipped upsidedown
2. I still have to dremel a little off of that gold piece that goes with the TPS, and make a bracket for it to work. The gold piece to the left of the TPS you see in the pic, will go on the rod before the nut.
3. A stopping nub was shaved off, the other stopping nub was shaved some.
This is possibly good news for people who want a larger TB (70mm ). Much easier to find than a Pathy TB, and it might be cheaper, as they are more common. Plus it saved me $200 from having to buy a PF TB for my swap

How big is it? Is it too big to fit on a VQ30 IM?
THe VQ35 IM will not fit into the VQ30 heads or Lower intake manifold. You would have to put a VQ35 in there or use the 3.5 heads if that is possible.
This is an interesting find for those who are doing a full 3.5 swap. One less thing to worry about.

You will probly have to enlarge the hole on the 3.0 IM a little bit, the 3.5 TB is 70mm, where the 3.0 is (I want to say) 65mm. You still would need some sort of an adapter plate, just as you would with the PF TB etc.

Well I started converting to a Cable-driven TB today. You need to saw off a small piece of aluminum with a bolt for the entire piece of metal to move a full 90 degrees.
As for the 3.0 TPS. I'm thinking about sawing off the round-shaped piece of aluminum that the TPS is bolted into and screw it on the side of the 3.5 TB with metal screws. What about you?

Here is mine:
Kinda crude, but it gets the job done, and it's fairly strong with enough clearange for the 3.0 cable bracket to move. TPS will read fine, the metal piece pushes the other perfectly.
And yes, it's a universal fact that my pictures suck.
BTW, why did you remove the 3.5 valve in the pictures above? I didn't have to remove it. I might clean it though.
MODS: I could get more/better pics up and you could sticky this thread. It's not that important, but it helps.

Nice job
I made a similar setup tonight, but mine looks even uglier than yours. I removed my butterfly plate just because, no real reason.
BTW: your TPS looks a little different than mine. What year is that from?

1995 5-speed SE. But it's a Canadian spec. Dunno if it makes a difference.
Is yours solid? If the metal is sturdy enough, it's fine, but the way I made mine I made sure to have support everywhere.
Besides, I think this part of the TB faces the firewall, so when you pop your hood open, people probably won't see our hackjobs

Well, originally my car had an LSD, but somehow the previous owner got through his head that it'd be a great idea to replace it with an open differencial when rebuild time came around. And he paid 1200$ for it.
It was a welcome surprise when I discovered that my axels turn opposite of one another.
Somehow however, I had virtually zero tire spin last year, so I always assumed I had an LSD. The joke was on me. I'm getting ready to wrestle the steering when Mr. Torque Steer rears his ugly head.
