Building custom intake manifold

Hello,
I'm currently building a custom intake manifold for my VQ30 and was looking for input on what might work best for a quick turbocharged street car. It looks like the runners will be about 5-6" max from the top of the lower intake manifold. The plenum will be about 4-5" in diameter (the runners will go into the plenum probably a couple of inches and will have some trumpets if possible). Hood clearance will be the main issue on runner length unfortunately.

Any thoughts?

Man I would have to guess that there is so much physics at play here that nobody will be able to say, “Here is what you need to do”

Sounds like a BMW M5 intake manifold.

That's an M5 IM, very different from the one I'm trying to build actually but VERY nice!

True, I'm just trying to copy what I've seen done on race cars and hoping it won't kill too much torque.

The aluminum for the runners should be here tomorrow and I'm starting on the base plate tonight, should be fun! Won't be running for quite some time though

Here's a couple of pics of the progress so far. The flange is getting milled flat today if all goes well, then I'll grind the runner holes slightly larger so the runners will slide down into them to be welded on the inside.

The SSR IM is pretty ugly, I'd like to know how much HP it actually made compared to the stock one, and how much torque it lost. Anyone heard? I guess it's about the height I'll have to make mine though to clear the hood.

I'm looking for some intake velocity stacks or "trumpets". The problem is the runners are so close together that the sides of the trumpets will have to be cut and kind of siamesed together on the 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6 cylinders.

I guess I never said it but this is going into a 95 240sx w/ Z33 6speed tranny

later

Thats funny. Do you honestly think I would only be making 263whp SAE if I was using somehting like that?

Then how do you explain that I am still using the 2k2 intake manifold?

But to get into the 280+whp SAE will require somehting different.

But still be an unopened VQ35 aside from the ARP rod bolts.

You sure? With your current setup I am sure you can pull a 12.5 with a low 1.8/high 1.7.

Of course, a ****ty track doesn't help...

It's just round tubing that I bent with a BFH and a 2x4. The intake manifold part of this project is now on hold, unfortunately, due to hood clearance (or lack there of)

Hood clearance is the problem. I was thinking of doing something like this except having the TB on the timing chain side. There is no way it would work with a hood or some massive hump similar to the Talons.
