Unichip

I'm pretty sure you can't use it to raise the rev limiter. I inquired back in may 2004 about it, and "Will" referred me to a volks/BMW tuner near Louisville, who in turn said it would be $1000.00 flat for install, a one hour tuning session. He never commented on my direct question to him of "is it possible to raise the rev limit or a vehicle with this?” all I got back was a "raising the rev limiter of a car from the factory is a costly procedure, and for 99% of applications, you don’t need to." This made me further back away from the “unichip experience”. I could be wrong now though; they have changed their website completely, so maybe a new version of the tuning software, i.e. raising rev limits, is available.

The whole concept behind this is to save money compared to TS ECU for 365, for the extending the rev limit ... so 1k for that, and well, the Bavarian Motor Company always gets favoritism becaue they have some pretty bad as.s cars ... So again, out of luck we are.

It is unlikely that you would be able to find any piggyback that could raise a rev limiter. It just doesn't work that way. You would need a standalone to do that.
The TS ecu is pretty cheap. Much cheaper than JWT or most other options you would look at. The thing is the rev limiter. Did they ever get it working with 5 speed ecus? I had my ecu there for like 2 months waiting and they said it wasn't a priority. I have been displeased with both TS and JWT as far is their cooperation and turnover.

From what I recall, the unichip is a piggyback system. I inquired about it 3-4years ago and the best I could get from the company was "we're sure it can be done" but the problem is unless you are out near their cali headquarters, you have to rely on a local tuner.
Which brings us to the other problem, in order for the system to give you any gains, they've got to dyno tune to even figure out what changes to the maps will give you any gains.
I gave up because it was too pricey for very uncertain gains. Also, I couldn't get the raw dyno numbers from a 4th gen they allegedly did.

For the 99 maxima. They made the plug for me, I'm still waiting for them to ship it to me. Then I'm gonna play with it on the dyno. I'm trying to set up a maxima dyno day for all maximas in the ny nj metro area.

I have not recieved the unichip yet. the plug is still at unichip. Aaron at unichip is setting the software to control timing and eliminate the governor or speed control.I have to sit around for lil bit

Hah! If these guys released their tuning software to the public like all other established and respected aftermarket ecu companies that have tunable daughterboards then everyone with an eu and half a brain will ditch the EU so fast it'll make your head spin....
Any updates? I'm still interested in one of these WHEN they make it like how I said above.....
