1998 Ecu?

1998 Ecu?
http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/un...lications.html
with the available application for:
Nissan Maxima v6 Vq30De
Now this brings multiple questions to hand, under this site, it lists this as an austrailian option only with http://www.dastek.co.za/ being the Unichips father site, they list this info;
The UNICHIP is much more than just a "chip". In actual fact it is a fully functioning computer which is added to the vehicle’s existing engine control unit (ECU). Apart from controlling general timing and mixtures it can do idling control, drive extra injectors, take full control over timing functions, eliminate road speed governors etc. It can be accurately described as a "Piggyback" computer.
The UNICHIP gets wired into the existing ECU harness. If it is removed the vehicle is back to standard. Unlike other after-market units if the UNICHIP is programmed with zeros the vehicle will be standard. Only areas where the vehicle isn’t perfect need to be altered.
And with only one dealer listed for the USA:
Unichip of North America
(Distributor) USA Toll Free 866.643.7400
503.640.7465
jack@unichip.us
I must admit, I wet myself at this oppurtunity. I must share this info.
I may have stumbled onto two things; Genius, or ignorance. If this is a repost, or if this idea has been shot down before, please flog a dolphin.

Interesting....now someone just needs to try it out....
There is another thread where one of the members is trying to reprogram the 98 ECU himself. Nothing yet but dude definitely knows his ****...
Hopefully this or the upcoming Stillen piggyback or the homegrown reprogram will actually come through....we need SOMEthing.

Amen. I just recieved an email back from Jack Freidman, the US Unichip general manager, and although the chip needs to be tuned on a dyno completely and "professional" he says the chip has no problems passing emmisions, and is CARB pending, he gave me a couple numbers of places somewhat local that I can get one installed and tuned by a "unichip professional" I think I'm gonna call them tomorrow, woo hoo.
Everyone can thank me for this

well its a piggy-back system, so It shouldn't care about how the ECU handles things on the INSIDE. Piggy back systems treat the ECU as a blackbox whereas Technosquare and JTW do eeprom/flash modifications.
There are other piggy-back systems that will run with our cars as well as many total-engine management systems which will completely replace your ECU. What about the Super-AFC? It will do pretty much the same thing as this Unichip. How much does this thing cost anyway? The website is very thin on details.. If its such a good product and has a good following, then I would expect to see some more details and info on the webpage..

As an update, and a damning of this product, I talked to Eric at Grossman Tuning, and he said they could do a custom installation for me, and dyno tune it, which he quoted me a price at $1000. 1000 dollars? siGh..I guess it might be cheaper then a couple options out there, but still, 1000 dollars, is quite obsurd.
