home made headers

Is there anyone here on the org who has made there own set of headers? If so, do you have any pictures? especially some up close shots of the collector and the flanges.

Also, does anyone have any pictures of the cattman headers? I looked on their website but all they have listed are thier cat-backs and ypipes.

I want to make some for my VG30E. Any one know a good diamiter to start out with? I need to take my stock ones off and measure them but I was thinking like 1 5/8ths or something similar. Any one have a clue whats not over kill for a light modded na VG? I am going turbo and Im going to build custom manifolds for that too so I want to make these as pratice.

How much would this cost a shop to do this? More than buying headers through Cattman?

Unless you are a welder by trade forget it.

maximaman91 made his own tubular manifolds for his turbo kit, they look exceptional. If you can't weld like the ****ins though you should drop the idea.

I've talked to brian -briefly- before about having my company do manufacturing for him. I'm pretty positive that we could procuce his headers for him for less, but there is absolutely no way we would have been able to be involved in the R&D.

That being said, I'm still gonna order my headers from Cattman once they are available.

I'm currently working on a product that retails for $US350.00 and I have to produce it for $cn50(~$US43) Then it goes to the guy who owns the product, gets boxed, goes out to a distributor, then and dealer and then gets sold. We are just wrangling on the thousands of dollar investment in tooling to get that pricing.

I am a pretty decent welder. I have ym own TIG machine and I am about to get a MIG. I am good with MIG and alright with TIG (depends on what I am doing) but I am getting better. If I decide to do this it wont be for a couple of months, I need to figure out if I am gonna keep this car or not. Right now Im just looking for ideas. Thanks for the pics of the cattman system, Ill look for some pics of maximaman91's manifolds, unless someone has some that they can post. Thanks guys.

I guess actually making a set of headers might not be that bad. Building a set that actually flows so it makes good power and wont' warp, leak etc.. is the hard part.

How many sets of headers would you be willing to make and test until you get the setup right?

I suppose you could just copy what is already out there.

maxmaxima91's homemade manifolds and piping. Pics were working for a sec and then all of a sudden wouldn't let me access them so this is the only link I had saved. There are better pics of them in his album but it's giving me some error when I try to access it.

Nope, these pics are from this dude's Cefiro. He made a custom SC setup I had more pics in a thread in the SC/TC forum.

If you have a CALI spec car, which header system could you purchase to remove the precat that is built into the header? Or can you really just purchase any full headers system because it is the same motor?

Those are coolant lines.... they are on your motor in a nice corroded/rust finish most likely.

EGR tube comes off the rear manifold and goes vertically from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold.
