Ignition Advance logging after KS replacement
Replaced the KS last night since I was getting the code and have noticed a nice increase in power throughout the range. However, the low end improved the most especially the smoothness of power delivery.
A friend of mine on the org (speedemn) has an OBD2 scanning tool that can log dynamic ECU parameters, one being ignition advance. I ran WOT in 4th and timing was steady at 12 then moving up to 19 as higher RPM's were reached.
My question is what is normal?

That sounds low for a stock ecu. At what rpm were you getting 19 degrees?
What octane fuel are you running and what was the ambient temp?
The red curve below is what I logged for a stock 96 ecu (GXE). All the data was recorded during 3rd gear WOT runs with 94 in the tank and ambient temps of 40F or less.

My 02 doesn't go above 17 at WOT in all gears.

Wanna know why some VQ35's have more power than others?

Mine are all at WOT aswell, today yielded some 10-12 steady then creep to 18ish in the higher RPM's again.
Is there any kind of computer system that can let me adjust all timing specs and essentially bypass the KS?? I am getting sick of this KS crap.

I got my STS from Courtesy Nissan... they sent it via USPS IIRC...
Chris, are you sure it's a harness you need? No matter the part I can get you 15-20% discounts at Kitchener Nissan. Ask Anish about it I've helped him out a few times. But Pinnacle's KS prices seem very good too. You'd have to figure it all out with shipping etc.

OK thanks Dan, I am going to hopefully try another new KS that Anish has. I really need something to compare to in order to rule out the KS sensor being bad. Will the Emanage Ultimate completely bypass the KS allowing me specify all timing values??

Been tightening to various tq ranges and still throwing the code and sucking some hard ***. Initially I can get the 25 degrees in 2nd gear the very first time I hit WOT after tightening... hit 3rd and everything dies out to about 11-12 degrees. Feels like a 16 second car right now.
Are you sure this KS is good? Did you try the other new one Anish has? I've run into it a couple times where a KS will measure to spec just fine when cool but as soon as it's heat stressed (ie after the engine gets hot) it fails. Is this the only code you're getting?
