Score!

Sorry, I can't resist gloating a bit. I got a 5th gen VLSD 5 speed tranny with less than 100 miles for $600 this past weekend. All it needs is in an input shaft seal.

DAMN Where did you get that from i've been looking for a tranny for a long time. I'm in the middle of a 5 speed swap and i've had no luck finding a lsd. I thought i had when but when i checked it out it was not lsd and was sent back. Car has been sitting in my driveway for about a month.

Dubbya let me know about one that Southpoint Nissan had pulled from a car.

Thanks, Warner!

I don't know. With VLSD tranny from the I30 traction is vicious. Cornering has greatly improved and i feel so much more confident in the car. I don't know if the track times will refect this but for the 99.99% of the time the car will be on the street it is worth it.
My VLSD was Free

I was told someone lost HP after installing one but who knows. I guess the dyno will tell.

Any LSD puts extra resistance and drivetrain loss on the engine, but I think that was more of the case with the Quaife. However the quaife is also supposed to be able to hold more traction so it is a trade off that anyone who has one has said they were willing to make. I think Mardigras or someone said they lost something like 30whp with the Quaife, but then again he was pushing well over 300whp at the time so it would be more of a percentage than an across the board hp loss.

I could see how it would be possible to assume that their would be power loss on the dyno but the VLSD doesn't really shine until you take that hard corner and those tires try breaking loose. Even in a straightly it doesn't make a diffrence until you lose traction.
Now on the dyno your unless youre making massive amounts of power and your getting wheel spin i doubt the VLSD will make a difference but we can tell next time i dyno make later in october.
I had no choice anyway you heard how my other tranny sounded deezo.

crap, that's a great deal. I was looking on car-part.com for a 5th gen VLSD and they were all over $1000 and all had over 100k miles.
