MEVI / 00VI swaps please step inside.
I am currently trying to find individuals that have done one of each of these swaps. What i am looking for is complete and thorough walk through on how to go about doing this mod. This is not for me. I am trying to peice together a magazine dedicated to the maxima/VQ community so your help in this matter will benefit all, and you will recieve recognition for your help. And maybe with stress on the word maybe i will be able to repay you for your trouble's later on down the road if this project takes flight.
Thanks,

The Mevi install is alot easier and thanks to deezo i can now do that swap. If you need a outline on MEVI i can help.
As for 00VI there are immense variations on how it can be done so that will be tricky.

Zack's reply sums it up nicely. The MEVI is a true bolt-on, pure and simple. Remove the USIM and bolt the MEVI in its place. The 00vi includes a lot of variations, with some customizing no matter how you do it.
MEVI vs 00VI
By no means any kind of an "expert" but someone who first did the MEVI, and then more recently went with the 00VI, there are (IMNSHO) only a handful of reasons do do the 00VI instead of the MEVI if you're starting with a stock intake system:
1. You go to the strip and that (estimated) one-tenth of a second and less-than-a-carlength advantages of the 00VI are worth it;
2. You like the challenge of doing something difficult and succeeding at it;
3. You want to brag to your friends;
4. You're a masochist;
5. You have nothing better to do with your time or money; and
6. You haven't thoroughly researched the tradeoffs.
These are not necessarily prioritized or a complete listing, and any additions or differing opinions are more than welcome.

Me and Dave Sz did the 00VI on my totalled 97 and it's not as hard as people make it out to be. Hardest part was figuring out the fuel lines and vacuum hoses. Definitely well worth it, i spend aroudn 300 bucks for the VI, adapter plates, and all the vacuum hoses and fittings necessary. Took .1 off my 1/4 mile time, woulda been more but I couldnt hook up. Added 2.5 mph to my trap speeds. Better than the MEVI since you dont need an ecu to restore lost low end power. ECU + 00VI > ECU + MEVI
Because at the time, the 00VI wasnt around. Now people with MEVIs have switched over, or already have the MEVI and ECU, and dont find it worth it to swap over. Plus the 00VI is getting difficult to get ahold of. Even Neal said (he ran a 13.43 all motor with the MEVI) that his time probably would have been better using the 00VI. No low end or mid range loss, and still the gains all the way up to redline.
I gained almost 25 ft-lbs of midrange torque with the 00VI, check out my dyno in the dyno forums, I haven't seen an MEVI do that (not that it hasn't happened)
BTW, I'm S/C'ed, but several FI'ed cars have MEVI's for comparison. I was considering selling it since they go for big bucks now days, but it's just too much fun.
