Motor Mount Questions...

Ok, As many of you know I'm swapping the VQ35DE into my sentra. Since we are utilizing the stock Maxima motor mounts I have a question.

Is there any polyurethane motor mount inserts (like say from Energy Suspension) or even solid mounts or do you guys just do the whole window weld deal?

We are looking to try and keep the motor as stable as possible so that we can get the torque to the ground and not have to worry about wheel hop and torque stear as much.

Anything that you guys currently use to upgrade your mounts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

I have the place racing mounts, which are discontinued. Before I made my traction bars I would still get a good deal of wheelhop. I assume they do help though, better than stock. The ES bushings must be inserted into stock maxima mounts and are much cheaper at 80$ or so. I would recommend replacing your control arm bushings while your at it, and strongly recommend looking into Traction Bars. They must make some for Sentras. I know they make some for old B13 SE-R's.

Great swap idea! I've been trying to get my friend to put a VQ into his 200sx but no luck so far. Do you have any pictures?

ES suspensions don't sell them anymore, but Cattman does still have a whole bunch for a great deal. Call them up and try to talk to Brian Catts. Tell him you are from maxima.org and he'll hook you up with a deal of 85 bucks for the poly urethan mount inserts. below, i paste his website, you'll find him useful to a good extent. since you are doing the vq in the sentra, you might as well drop in some hot shot headers or Cattman's gen 2 headers, that'll give you a very nice power monster in that sentra.

i used shore 80A urethane from www.mcmaster.com. i think it's about $40 for 1lb, which is more than enough to do 2 mounts..... i actually did 2 motor mounts and 2 tranny mounts, and it's a lot cheaper than gettin PR or ES mounts.

i have a brief writeup w/ pics on my cardomain here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/352601/8

if you had another set of mounts u wanted to fill w/ polyurethane, this would be the way to go i think. unless you're not on a tight budget and would rather spend more on precast ones. but that shore 80A stuff is pretty freakin hard, and it turned out really well, so i'm glad i did it myself.
