hey thanks for the help...but can you answer the other two questions too? I mean, I know which PIN on the ECU to mess with...but how the heck do I know which wire leads to wire in that huge a$$ haystack?...

i dunno how the altima ecu is setup...but did you unplug the clips on ecu itself to pull the harness further out?

You need to take out the white cover on the harness plug, and start counting the pin outs from the bottom of the plug, it would also be a good idea to also know what colors are the surrounding wire for reference; BTW, I don't know about the max's ECU but the ECU for the 5 sp. altys(3rd. gen.) there is no wire for the RPM pinout(pin 34 for ours) because that wire connects to a transmission module for the automatics, I had to open up my harness plug and inserted another wire(I used an old maxima wiring harness wire); I could not use the camshaft pos. sensor pin(reading was way off), and I could not use the crankshaft pos. sensor pin because it was reading the revs backwards(idle was at 9000 RPM and redline was 1000 RPM).

Check starting on page 142 of the FSM, all the pins, their function and wire color are listed. I use a box cutter to strip the insulation off the wire then connect to it. Its best if you try and move the wires around a bit to separate the wire you want like shyestsparks suggested too.

Alright yall...got this **** up and running....thanks to 1fstmax for all installing it for me....

so far my initial settings are....1 IN, 1 OUT, VTEC type 1, 6 cylinder, / arrow

is this what you vq35 owners are using?

Also, did you guys save two different map programs when you tuned the car? I'm thinking of asking the operator to make two maps...one super aggressive for only drag/street racing...and one semi aggressive map for daily...
