It's alive!!! 3.5 swap with cams
Worked all weekend and got the car back together. 3.5 swap with JWT knockoff cams, and also did a transmission rebuild by myself. I replaced the differential bearings and the input shaft bearings. I will dyno in two weeks, and hit up the track shortly thereafter. I only drove it for about 15 minutes, and it is a beast, it pulls so much harder than my 3.0 engine. Sorry I have have any more pics or info yet.
I have a short video shot on my digital camera that is 8 mb if someone would like to host it. Shows the car idleing and gently revving with the cutout open.

Trying to do the engine at the same time as a transmission rebuild was a mistake on my part. It was way too much to keep track of in my limited space. It took me 3 weeks from start to finish, alot of which was spent waiting on parts. Only engine I have ever had apart is my VW rail buggy engine, this was quite different. The transmission was overwhelming when I first took it apart, but it was pretty easy to finish with the FSM. Making sure the cam timing was correct was the only part that I was nervous on, drilling the cams and then making sure it was all lined up left alot to go wrong.
The hardest part was setting the engine and tranny together from the top side, I am glad I had two friends over for help, I would have never gotten it.

The idle is good at 900-950 rpm, anything below that and it wants to die after being revved. It will idle at normal rpm once its warm, but when you blip the throttle it will die. I still need to work on the cold start though, it wants to die right after I start it.

96sleeper- Your car sounds great. It doesn't seem to be as loud as mine was when I had my cutout open.

quicktimeperformance.com, it is in the test pipe.
Sorry the video is not that great, but it is all I could do quickly. I will do another one later that is better. I just wanted to show how a maxima can sound like a V8 at idle.

car-part.com
The engine was listed for $760, I called and asked about the harness since I needed the injector clips. He told me the harnesses were cut off, so I said no thanks. He called me back and asked if I would buy it for $500 as is. I said sure, and when I got it, the harness was still on the engine, it had just been cut on the main branch where it went through the firewall. So, I lucked out.
