In past years I have run a small 1 Gal cell with 114 unleaded for nitrous. This year I decided to eliminate the main tank altogether and just run with a cell. I wanted to have an install that wouldn't be noticed unless you went out of your way to check. This is an 8 gal US Fuel Cell sunk into the tire well about 2" below the well so that when the mat is placed back into the trunk there is no bump and looks completely stock. 1"x1/8" steel was used for the bottom mounts and the same size only aluminum for the top. I extended the wires for the pump, tank gauge and temp. I also used the stock rubber hose from the tank to the steel line. The tank is just a little larger than I need to get to the track which is about 2 hrs away, so I will take a container with race fuel and 5 gals of pump gas to get home.
I ran new 5/16" steel fuel lines from the engine bay and they enter through the rear of the tire well. The vent goes through there as well. I used the stock fuel tank internals so that I could have a fuel gauge and internal pump. The cell is also foam filled except for the pump area.
The rear will also be changed somewhat when I do some air flow smoothing under the rear but for now you can see the 2 suction connections. I plan on driving to the track with pump gas and then drain and fill with 114 unleaded. The when the race is over drain and fill again with pump gas. Should only take 5 mins and I plan on draining through one of the suction connections.
Not sure if I will run nitrous at all or just stay N/A. I plan on racing N/A for sure but I might just hit it with the juice to see what it will do after I get it totally tuned N/A.
PS Stock tank weighed 30 lbs, fuel cell weighs 7 lbs.

Kev the light is lit at a low fuel level it is not a separate sensor. The only other sensor in the tank is the temp sensor.

Alex I bought 25' but could have done it with 20'.
So you routed it where the hard lines went and then into the rear fender and through, right?
Would a -6AN line be big enough?

Ya I just used the same route as the stock lines until I got to where the old tank was and then I followed the brake line for the drivers side rear until I got to the tire well.
Dan just don't look too close at my work. I am hoping to get my converter tomorrow and possibly install the engine this weekend. However I do have other stuff to keep me busy if it doesn't.

And hey I'll give you a second pair of hands if I can providing my neck heals in time (just locked a couple vertebrae the other day out of the blue).
I was looking into this also. I didn't want to deal with the fuel pump though.I was also looking into a smaller one. There probably wouldn't be much of a weight diffrence though.What was the cost on this and where did you het it from?

The smaller units aren't any cheaper mine was $104 for the 8 Gal and I have a 1 Gal also that was the same price.
I may still run the 1 gal in the front of the car and take the 8 gal out at the track not sure yet. However the shipping weight on the 8 gal is 5 lbs and with the reservoir in the real that slopes down (which is where the pump is mounted) you could easily run with no problems with as little as 1 gal in there. I chose the 8 gal because that will take me to the track which is 2 hrs away.

This really has me thinking know. I don't have a spare tire well and the closet track is only 7 miles from my house so i don't need alot of fuel.Thats why i don't need suck a large tank. I like the idea of using the stock pump so i'm going to have to do more reasearch.
