Tranny overhaul - extra (3 instead of 2) dowel pin
We are doing a complete overhaul of my transmission. Everything has gone smoothly up until now.
We have 3 dowel pins and 2 holes for them to go into. All three are identical and two are definately for the transmission to bell housing mate. Does anyone know where the third pin goes?
Does anyone know if the dowel pin goes one the front timing cover to engine mate or the bell housing to engine mate?
Thanks
I have a pic of the transmission case with the two pins in place an the third one just sitting on the case next to one of them. The pic can be seen at;

There are still 2 dowel pins in the motor still. I figure there are just 2 for that mate. I am just worried because I have one extra part.
The nissan parts manuals lists: quantity 2
There is one spot in the reverse machanism that has a bell shaped piece of metal with two holes. One holes gets a pivot-pin from the side and the other hole is empty. The dowel looks like it could fit in one of the holes. It looks like the hole that is in the opposite direction from the differential is the one that gets the pivot-pin.
We also have two small identical pieces of plastic that kind of look like they have two fangs on them. Any one know where they go? Thanks

There is a cylindrical spacer that looks like a dowel pin that goes between some of the interlock *****. Maybe you didn't reinstall it?
Check out item 8 on page MT-14:

Okay I got some pics of the clips. I am hoping someone tells me that they go somewhere else on the car besides the transmission.
