Ts Ecu

I am buying a usedTechnoSquare ECU for my 96SE 5speed from a .org member with a 96 auto. He said it will throw a CEL code... is this just because I am using an auto ECU in my 5 speed? Correctable? What are the differences in actual performance mods made to an auto ECU v manual (slightly different idle speed/ maybe different advance for vacuum issues?)?? I don't mind TS not messing w/ rev limiter unless I install MEVI later (can add Harlan, I guess). Everybody raves about ECU upgrades, I hope I did right for the $$.

haha, I bought a ts ecu off an .org member as well!! its like we are in the 'I bought a used ts ecu from other .org member' club! haha, anyway its a really sweet upgrade! It makes a huge difference. I just did the dek swap..well its almost done and im going to see if they can raise the rev limiter for me. but i can wait to run the ts with my dek and full exhaust!! You will be pleased!

Thanks guys!! My only real concern is the timing reprogram (1) I guess I have to run premium instead of "plus" and (2)difference in automatic program v manual... I bought an "automatic ECU" for my 5 speed. I've been told that I WILL get an error light but unsure if I can ever get rid of it after install. Is this really just "plug and play" part (ECU) board exchange next to firewall at accelerator?? Seems too easy! I appreciate your input!!! The only problem I had was removing those four screws to remove the stock ECU-- I lost a small phillips screw bit inside my car-- it fell under the floor. It was fustrating for me.. but after that, it was easy!

TS has dual maps to make use of non-premum fuel so it shouldn't be too different.

I was not aware of dual mapping!!! So maybe I can just keep running "plus" grade without messing the engine up?? Actually, I used to run regular with no problems (no knocks and same gas mileage) but everyone said to use premium... I conceded to "plus" (cheap SOB that I am ) I was led to believe that I would HAVE to run premium with reprogrammed ECU. I never hit above 6200 on my shifts but I didn't want to screw things up on the way up there! Thanks for the heads up!!
I also understand that when I install the MEVI, I have sitting in the garage, it will really pull (even though I'm not going to use a rev-limiter). Any ideas on how to defeat the (probable) engine error light by my using an auto ECU v a manual in my 5 speed without sending back to TS???? Doug
