Now because i'm stupid what is the difference between that motor and my stock 97 vq30? Which is a DEK? MEVI or OOVI? which one is better and why? Sorry for the newb questions i was originally leaning more towards the vq35 so i did more home work on that motor however i wanna keep w/ the vq30 due to only wanting to hit 300-400hp (under boost). Hope someone can help w/ out killing me but oh well let the flames start if they must. Oh and where can i get the parts or the whole motor?

While i do understand that the vq35 is the new nissan pride and joy, i know a guy here in town that has a 350z w/ greddy twins and has gone through 2 motors and a trans and i'm not sure if i'm wanting to experience his troubles. There is alot of work to do a swap. Now i understand that the MEVI and 00vi are intake manfolds however what do the do that provides more power compared to stock? Does anyone know of a shop that can install a 3.5 in or around Jacksonville,FL? I am not a noob by far when it comes to cars but i'm attempting to learn what i can about the maxima and find a good route to make the power i yearn for and enjoy my car. I used to have a 200sx w/ a sr20det and enjoyed it but i wrecked it. I hope to get boosted again i just am trying to read and learn from you guys to see the best route. Again thank you for the help.

First, forget the Mevi since alot of ppl experienced better results with the 00vi. If ur gonna go that route, u must get ur ECU upgraded. The reason being that the 00vi has a 2nd runner hence gives better result at high end performance. To squeeze out the max gains, u wanna be able to shift at 7200 RPM rather than 6600.
As for the 3.5, it will give you 225 WHP and 246 pound of torque with very little bolt-ons. And as for reliability, Tilley (one of the 3.5 pionneers) has turboed his car and he's hitting mid 11's. And I have yet to hear him break anything or having issues.

I have no problem saving the money to do the 3.5 swap and getting into the 11s is a nice goal to have; however, i dont know of a turbo kit for the 3.5 that i can use what kit did he use. And what exactly is his set up? ( I love boost ). Thanks for the help.

Sounds like you have a lot of research to do about cars in general, let alone anything Maxima specific.

Don't sweat the insults/condescension 2slow4u...they're (unfortunately) all too commonplace on the 'org these days

If you have the cash, get the emanage ultimate for starters, then you can decided waht you want for motors. If you do 3.5 turbo...well your looking at a lot of $$$ to be dropped, like $5000 minimum. The reason i say that is because i know u won't do it yourself. So, get the 3.5, if u want modify the heads and use the e-manage(which is a piggy back ecu) and tune it. You'll have decent power

Well i'm sorry that my words are incorrect and i refer to things different. I know the 3.5 is time consuming swap and rather expensive if you have someone else install it for you. I want boost i love it and cant get enough of it. Now i've priced out a new motor because i mine i hurting (compression check not great ). So i've found DEK motors and Vq35 motors for around the same price. Now the modifications for to install the vq35 is going to be time consuming but i'm up for it. Now i'm I know the PFI kit will fit on the Vq35 but i'll need to modify the IC piping on it to make it work. I have to get a new motor and the booth seem like the same price. I'll probably run a E-manage system for now till i can work out which Stand Alone i wish to run with. With my 200 i ran w/ JWT. I mean i know both motors are strong and can hold the power I just think the 3.5 is a great option to go w/. I always look for opinions and if people wanna throw their two cents in great I dont honestly care if they wanna be stupid they make ***'s of themselves. I've always loved the 4th gens they are sweet. I still fight with myself over to keep the 3.0 or upgrade to the 3.5. But i feel the 3.5 again will be the best route to go for power and because its Nissans new pride and joy there will be a huge backing of parts for it as well. I hope people will assist in pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks,
Alex
