3.5Cams install help.
Ok sorry if this is a repeat but through searching through the all the cam threads i could find i couldnt find any tips on installing the 3.5 cams into the vq30de-k. I was wondering if it is better to pull the motor or just pull the heads? I would appreciate all the help from those that have done this. I am currently waiting on the cam adapters. Thanks for all the help guys

in order for the 3.5 cams to work in the 3.0, you either need to get your cams drilled or get cam adaptors. cam adaptors seems like the more rational choice. It doesn't involve you getting your cam drills and is about the same price as getting your cams drilled.

I am looking a getting some 3.5 altima cams, the are the same as the maxima 3.5 cams right? I know, same vq35de but just making sure! also I was thinking about getting jwt valve springs to match with the 3.5 cams in my de-k. Is that a good choice? I know stephenmax makes adapters, do I just tell him I need 3.5 cam adapters for a de-k?

All VQ35 cams are the same except the RevUp (7000 rev limit), 01-04 Pathfinder, and the VQ35HR.
You need to space/drill or adapt all VQ35 cams to use with VQ30 timing equipment.
To change the cams you need to take off the timing chain cover, lower oil pan, timing chain system, valve covers, and Intake manifold. You then have to check a lot of clearances and make sure you don't mess anything up in the process. If you don't have a lot of VQ experience I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself.

The Rev Up ones are more aggressive, so you might want to look into those.
The Pathfinder are less agressive, somewhat more rare, and I am not sure how the spacer/drill applies. They could be direct swap or they could need a different spacer.

are the rev up cams the same as the 350z cams? so basically jwt knockoffs on ebay > revup > 3.5max and altima cams? which are > than de-k > de?
I am wondering if I need to change valve springs with the 3.5 cams in my de-k? use the dek valve springs? or 3.5 springs? or jwt springs? or 350z springs?
also, will the 3.5 heads bolt up to the 3.0 de-k? would I want to do this?

For an extra reference to this thread, a possible setup which "has been done" onto my car is this:
03 maxima block
03 maxima crank
02 pathy crankcase
02 pathy heads
02 pathy pistons-flat top
ARP crankcase bolts
ARP rodbolts
JWT 3.5 valvesprings
JWT 3.0 camshafts (no cam drilling, nor adapters are needed)
4th gen's mevi iintake manifold
4th gen's Cattman Full exhaust
02 pathy throttle body
still got lots more into it, EU, Wideband, Fuelpump, FPR,...
