goto phatg20.net

Download the FSMs.

Goto the EC section (Engine Control)

Read every pin and see if they line up or can line up if you butcher the harness. Done deal. The exhaust manifold VTCs that you are going to ask about will not work without an engine intended to do that ... I think.

DL in the FSM for both. Compare and see you come up with.

I have the FSM for the 05 Z33 and 05 A34... But have not had the time to compare...

So, take it upon yourself to do so.

Why are you interested?

I was thinking of using a piggy back system for a Z. I figure it's the same motor and electronics for the most part, possibly the same for all things related to a management system.

There is no reason to ever use a standalone system on a street-driven n/a car especially when there's UTEC.

If the 6th gen Max's ECU connectors is similar to the 05-06 Altima 3.5, the Altima UTEC is available now. Compare the FSM see if it's identical, if it's not contact Jermaine@turboxs.com he might be able to do something for you. This is exactly what I did a month ago, now we have UTEC for 05-06 Altima 3.5 and 02-04 coming soon, since it has different connectors. Jermaine of TurboXS is the man with a really great company .

I was unaware they made one for the Altima. I would think they would work as both cars are very similiar. I'll check the FSM and contact turboxs.

Been in the works for a month now, just became available for 05-06 last week. Check the FSM, I bet it's identical. Getting one installed as soon as I get my car back.

I just looked threw the FSM for the Altima, Maxima, 350Z. Funny thing is the Altima and 350Z have the same diagram. The Maxima has the same pin out but a seperates the two connectors in the manual. Going by that I would guess there was a difference of sorts between the Altima and 350Z on a code level not connector.

Check each wire # and it's function, see if it matches. If it's the same you just need different connectors like the 02-04 Altima 3.5.

The connectors are the same from the looks of things. I guess I can try and trace the wires later but that would take some time.

It should be listed in order under the section EC - Engine Control System, Trouble Dianosis, ECM Harness Connector Terminal Layout/ECM Terminals and Reference Value, page 120 on the 05 Maxima FSM.

Good Luck

That was fun! The 350Z does differ on the pinout and has different voltage specs for some parts. I saw absolutely no difference between the Altima and the Maxima. The only thing that bugs me is the pictures are different for the connectors. The Altima and the Z show both connectors together and the Maxima shows them seperate. Maybe I'm overanalyzing.

Well, the Z UTEC and the 05-06 Altima UTEC are one and the same. Jermaine mentioned the only difference between the two are minor changes on the casing and harness of the Altima UTEC for a perfect fit. Probably the reason why the 05-06 Altima UTEC was release so quickly. He also mentioned that the ECU signals for the 02-04 are similar but it will need different connectors. The same could be apply in your case, since the signals are the same but a 6th gen Maxima specific connectors might be necessary.

Because it wont fit. It mounts differently compared to a FWD VQ35.

Fair enough, the Maxima motor would still fit.
