Those heads have been discussed both on my350z.com and here. They're are not bolt-on and go. They're designed primarily for race teams (or an individual with race aspirations) as a starting point to tweak and modify to meet their own unique objectives.

Very good thread here: http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthre...ht=nismo+heads

FYI, they are VQ35 heads with VQ30-sized combustion chambers.

As for the valve springs, what are your HP goals? What cams are you going to use? We need a little more background info to be able to help you better.

right now i have the a33 (2001) maxima cams,
im just rebuilding it for fun right now, haven't really committed to any power / price goals
i was just thinking by increasing the displacement of the motor i need to increase the air flow (do head work)

I've been waffling back and forth with the 3.0 dek I have now,the 3.3 hybrid ,and the 3.5 swap.As of now I am working on installing JWT S1 knockoffs in my dek but you don't know how tempted I've been to p&p an old set of 3.0 heads I have laying around and just stroking the 3.0.I can tell you that after all the research I've been doing and considering the cost involved compared to the HP you would get. You would be alot better monetarily speaking in just doing a 3.5 swap because it's ALOT cheaper to buy a complete motor (I'm watching 2 on ebay now both $700 complete with a best offer option on both)than trying to buy the individual parts for the hybrid.I've been trying to find a 3.5 oil pump for my 3.0 since I have it apart but for the prices I've been quoted I might as well add a little more money and buy a complete 3.5 motor. If you want to spend alot of money and wrench time for less HP just for a conversation piece every time you open the hood then the hybrid is the way to go.I've been trying to convince myself that the hybrid is the way I wanted to go for these past few months but as every gear head knows a good flowing set of heads is where you make your power and the 3.5 heads> than the 3.0 heads hands down so I can't justify the cost involved in reworking a less inefficient set of heads for the price of a whole 3.5.But this is just one mans humble opinion and we all know about the old saying as far as opinions go.Good Luck either way you go because both builds will have more torque compared to the 3.0.

Well put. If you want to spend way more money and still have a slower car than the guy who puts a $1000 VQ35 in his car in a weekend then the 3.3 is a great idea.

so a Port and Polish is prob. the best head mod for what im doing?

j/w where can i get a metal head gasket for ease of mind?
will the vq35 one work or should I get one from japan? i can not find one in the USA

The OEM head gasket is 3-layer MLS (Multi-layer Steel).

If you are going to use the Nismo Heads, I would recommend putting in a piston that is better than stock. The 3.0 that I put the Nismo heads on looks like it lost a piston at the wrist pin and may have messed up one of the heads. The motor had 50 more hp than a stock VQ30 but there was no power below 4000 rpm so any gains I had at the top end were offset by not being able to accelerate from a slow corner.
