Question about the 3.5

What (if any) are the differances between the 3.5 Quest motor and the 3.5 maxima.I just bought one from a place in Cleveland,Ohio and they have 2 to choose from. One from a maxima with some miles on it and a brand new one with zero miles on it from a Quest.I've been searching on line for the specs on the quest motor but I'm not having any luck. I'm not picking it up til next week but the guy asked me which one I wanted so I told him I'd have to call him back. Both these motors are complete so I'm leaning towards the motor with no miles unless the is a big difference. I have 3.5 S1 cams I was installing in my 3.0 but I'll just wait and install them in this motor so if it's just the cams that are different it will not matter but if it's the heads......... Any input would be very appreciated since I have to let him know first thing in the morning.

Quest motor = 6th gen AT motor. It'll work just fine.

So there isn't a difference between the 2 motors. Just asking because of the differences in the hp output between the 2 Max=255hp,Quest=235hp.

Those advertised numbers mean nothing. Like I said, the Quest motor = 6th gen AT motor. Identical internally and completely interchangeable.

yea from time to time nismology likes to change his methods and make himself useful , keeps his conscious clear lolz. j/k lol :-D

Anyways, what year is this motor you're buying btw? Depending on how old it may be, do not be surprised if the injectors dont work right (depending of course on how long the motor sat).

The motor is brand new It hasn't been in a car.The place I bought it is a scrap metal place I think I'll find out when I go pick up the motor but the guy I bought it from purchased it in a bulk sale from the Mr. Gasket company. He said Mr.Gasket will buy new motors from manufacturers to spec out for parts then call him up once or twice a year to buy all there motors when they are done with them.He said Mr. Gasket didn't even break this particular motor down so as far as I know it hasn't been cracked open.I was bidding on this on ebay and got outbid so I didn't give it another thought until Ebay sent me a second chance offer on it 3 weeks later. Apparently the highest bidder backed out of the deal so they offered it to me to buy it now for a cheap price.I got everything from exhaust to throttle body minus the engine cover for $450.Of course the new motor was for a quest that's why I was concerned about anything being different on it.I was mainly worried that it might have different heads on it but now my fears have been put to rest.In another month I hope to be on the 3.5 list.

Wow nice find if it's that new, for that price. So I guess you gave up on making the S1's work with the DEK huh...

Yea Dan I wimped out and took the easy road.I wasn't planning on doing this swap til next year after I seen what I could squeeze out of the 3.0 but for the deal I got I'd be crazy to pass this up.I am still thinking that since I have the motor apart on the dek just changing out the cams from the stock 3.5 into the 3.0. Trust me the way I drive I'm sure I'll need a backup motor for when I blow this new one up. lol
