I have sent out some inquiries about custom pistons, so I'll see what I end up with.

Where would you guys recommend buying pistons from?
I noticed that ross had really good prices, only 549$ from www.importperformanceparts.net

I also noticed that http://www.rockprod.com/ makes standard pistons for VK45DE. A set for vq30de cost 199$ so I guess that the price for VK45 should be around 250-300$

hmm not to dig up a potentially dead thread, but what was the word with this? I have some VH45 pistons lying around that I'd love to throw into my VQ, if I remember correctly VH45 and VK45 pistons have the same compression height

I don't personally think $500 for 6 pistons is cheap, but maybe comparitively speaking it probably is. I guess that's why bowtie engines are so popular. Any idea what a piston maker would charge for a custom set?

At this point, I don't know specifics for either of the engines but I plan to learn. I just recently realized (joining here) that '02 maxima's did in fact have two different engines.

I'm having a custom set of piston done by Arias SpeedWare and the cost is 992$ including performance ring and wrist pin.

Are you getting crown or shirt coatings for your new pistons?

Just curious because I'm shopping for 96mm 11:1 CP forged pistons for my newest 3.5... and there seems to be several choices.

would be nice.... but isn't it true that our fuel is not compatible with the DD's fuel system? too much sulfur or something?

pm him for pics. it's pretty strange looking. I wouldn't think it would interfere with DE heads ....but i don't really see a benefit either.

Nevr mind - I already ordered and received the coated CP pistons. The short block is now being assembled by professionals, so I feel better.

Pistons look very interesting, I would love to see what a direct injection head looks like with the large "injector"

Yea, it does look interesting. It's got the RWD VQ35 clamshell type UIM, and a LIM that looks rather odd.

I tell you, FAST makes it a PITA to get a clear picture of something. These have been cleaned up a bit.

Yep.

Get A1-A3 from phatg20, that'll cover most of the JDM entries you want to look at.

Uploading them to my server, download this entire folder, open up NFSET and in the 'CD-ROM setup' tab, add in the above directory (leave in your US entries as well). Then what you start up FAST it'll give you the option to choose between Japanese and US cars.

Should be finished uploading within the next hour.
