what to do with a seized vq35...

blew a headgasket, seized up the motor and have a new one being installed into my car right now, looking for suggestions as to what to do with my old seized long block.

i have a 700 mile gt30r sitting on my dresser, but have had bad experences with turboing cars that arnt from the factory so am leaning tward an all motor build...

im assuming ill have to have the block rebored as it is seized up and probilly damaged, would that allow me to run it as a 3.7 liter stroker? toss some jwt cams in and valvetrain and have a beast on my hands?

or what would you do? its going to be a long term build so i am open to all suggestions, figured id see if its worth keeping this motor or just trying to let it go cheap.

stirp the goods off it and throw it away. Unless you are going to build it up I got a block sitting in my garage slowly getting built.

Even if you were going to build it up honestly I'd toss it and start with something else, if it was a RWD block I might say otherwise, but the FWD 3.5's are so so cheap that it's just a hell of a lot more practical, less risky, and very likely cheaper to just pick up one with valve cover/oil-pan damage preferably and start from there.

I've seen VQ's pistons so fuxord from blowing both HG's and driving so far it wiped out all the cat's & o2's, I've seen one that drove for 100+ miles with ZERO oil pressure (Shattered oil pump) and neither of them seized....... So, I can only imagine what that thing looks like, everything would have to be spec'd out. You should tear it down and post pics of teh carnage though, than sell me the oil pan, cps & subharness, upper manifold, front valve cover, & oil cooler

Why not get the Brian Crower 4.1 stroker then?

That'd be one expensive build, and I think it would be more cost effective if you were to get f/i.

mine had precat failure, which blew the headgasket and probilly sucked some parts up inside it; put my aftermarket headers on it then put 400 miles on it with a blown headgasket and it just didnt feel right one night, clutched it and she locked up, was doing 40 mph or so so tried to bumpstart it only to lock up the front tires

any other parts you want off it? oil pan i can do, valve cover i could also do; keeping the mani for a ssim

whats the cps/sub harness? make an offer on the parts and ill consider pulling it appart and letting them go

I've always considered VQs pretty damn stout, myself. Well, VQ30 at least, after seeing what mine has put up with.

Took some pics of a nice, slightly abused VQ35...whoever can spot the problem or two gets a cookie

Click the pic for the entire gallery...

Just in here to say that when you think your motor has it bad, think of those poor stressed out FI motors

I know, I know! The piston is crooked because it lets more air in and one of the pistons is missing for weight reduction, correct?

Just wondering if the heads are good and would you be willing to sell them?

Nice picture, hope you had some fun before that happened.
