Oil pressure... just a note.

Installed an oil pressure gauge.

Noticed a few things

fully warm @ Idle: 10-14psi. (little under 700rpms)
5 gear light load, @ ~2600 rpms = 30-45psi
Warming up medium load @ 70-90 psi @ ~ 3000 rpms.

I'm kinda of glad to have it installed. Dont feel I'll lose oil pressure and the motor will seize, but good thing to keep and eye on.

I figured Oil pressure is low at idle and maybe a bit lower in general since the crank sprocket on the 3.0 has much less teeth than the crank sprocket on the 3.5.

edit: just to note its a mechanical guage.

They are pretty much of a waste to have because by the time you notice that there is no oil pressure or lack of, the motor is far gone.
Best setup would be a kill switch hooked up like Dandy max has.

I don't see a problem.

BTW, the oil pump is driven by the crank snout so it doesn't matter which timing components are installed. Also, oil pressure is RPM-dependant and is not affected by load.

true in a way, sometimes one maybe lucky to see their oil pressure dipping underload, but most wouldnt react fast enough before the motor goes.

I'll have to look into this kill switch for the future.

I didnt really see a problem, just noting incase others were wondering about their oil pressure. At idle it seemed a little low but underload its normal, and very high during warm up as it should be.

Your right oil pump is driven by the crank. I remember seeing the end of the crank going thru the oil pump

Seemed low when compared to what?

In general. I knew it would be too high at idle but 10psi? if its normal is normal. I know nothing is wrong with my engine or its oiling abilities but never hurts to make sure.

Approximate discharge pressure
kPa (kg/cm2, psi)
Idle speed - More than 98 (1.0, 14)
2000 rpm - 294 (3.0, 43)

pulled from the FSM?

based on those number, my motor is very normal. I should have consulted the FSM, but figured things would be a little different with the hybrid setup of motors.
