Motor swap from 5th gen to 5.5gen...even worth looking at?

This is just something I'm throwing out there as I look at the long-term feasibility of keeping the Max.

Hypothetically, if the engine goes in such a manner it's deemed that an engine replacement is required, how much would it potentially cost to swap the tranny/engine from a 30DEK to the 35?

I have the title to the car and honestly don't feel like jumping in to a new payment anytime soon.

Reading the stickies will give you a general idea, the old-school 3.5 swap thread breaks it down pretty good, you can spend anywhere from $800 scrounging everything and doing it yourself, or you could spend anywhere from $3,000-$20,000.

For the most part, it will be the same as the 4th gen 3.5 swap. There's a few steps that arent required though, such as splicing the injectors among some others. Cost wise, it is about the same as a 4th gen swapper would pay. But it depends on where/how you source your parts.

All the information you need is already on the org. Most, if not all is in the stickies.

Thanks for the info, guys. The stickies here are very well maintained. Good info to know when/if it comes to this. Thanks again.

i'm not really seeing the point in spending anywhere from $800 to a couple thousand on this swap when you can put all that money into the motor you have already and get way more power. unless the motor you have now is shot or about to breakdown i'm not seeing a point!

Please tell me how I can get over 230whp-250whp out of a VQ30 under 1500.

Besides nitrous?

Or a cheap second-hand turbo kit or blower setup...

Which aren't too reliable at that much money. (maybe nitrous)..

But a VQ35 swap is def worth the money, you get alot more usable HP through out the entire rpm range.

Just my opinion, but the DE-K is a great motor and I would stick with it. It's not worth the time or money.

I wouldn't bother unless you were planning to do a mild build to the 3.5 prior to swapping it. Atleast cams if not pistons. Now if it was a Sentra the motor would be going into...
