CMPS problem. HELP!

I have been having problems with my camshaft position sensor code returning repeatedly. I clear the code, start the car and it comes right back. Ive change between 3 different sensors and change the actually connector to the sensor and wires. The code still comes back.

Any idea what this is?

The motor is a 3.5L with 3.0 timing. Could the cam adapter dowel pins be bending or something???

Have you verified that the motor is timed correctly?

when all it was was the crank PULLEY or crankshaft?

BTW nismology and anyone else reading,

I pulled the CMPS out to check it and had a grey-ish slimmy stuff on it..."MIGHT" me metal shavings... almost sure those cam adapters screw me sideways!!

I have seen anywhere from 9* to 17* @ initial startup,It depends on your specific base idle...
Your camshaft sensor works... otherwise the car would not start. I belive your timing is off or the signal is being interrupted by who knows what..
The metal collecting on the sensor can set the code. Its similar to a wheel or diff abs sensor. They are magnetic & pick up metal which will throw a code.
I would remove the cam sensor & rotate the crank while monitoring/feeling the timing chain sprocket for a protrusion. Either way it sound like you nedd to pull the front cover off.

Also have you checkd the main harness for resistance?
Also did you try another ecu?

when i checked my timing last year(when my car was running 13.5) with the JWT ECU, it was at 17* @ idle.

That's definitely something I'd check, is continuity from the CPS to the ECU while shaking the harness where it goes by the right strut tower.

Soo you're saying plug in the sensor, Start the car and while its running check for continuity between the sensor terminal and ECU pin out while shaking the harness?

Not while it's running, you never check continuity on a live circuit.

No reason to plug in the CPS, either.

it seems the motor is timed correctly because didnt you say when the sensor is unplugged the car runs hard. hopefully it the wiring to ecu or computer itself.

oh my lord jesus....lls
jus found a broken wire on my ecu(white with a blue strip) went out for a test run and on the stock ecu,its pulling harder then the JWT and I have on 18s and 2 12s in the trunk..

I think this wire has been broken since my last more.

now. my crank pulley has a lil harleem shake going on but it is tight and motor isn't knocking so I think I jus need another pulley and when cranking the car, the rpm gauge is jumping up and down.what is this?

What was the wire for? Did you trace it, pin #?
Is your camshaft position sensor code gone?

gonna trace it tomorrow. Had to much fun driving it around today. Burned up about a hole tank.lol

But now, instead of my car running better with the CPS unplugged, it doesnt even run unplugged now and runs good plugged in

Good stuff. Glad to hear everything is running ok.
I tried running starting my car without the CPS REF the last time we talked and my car wouldnt even start.
IIRC the Crank sensors and the Camshaft sensor have white wires going into the ECU. I'm not too sure if they have a blue stripe or not but I'm almost 90% sure they're plain white.
Did your idle change at all? Idle timing?

Its about time you got that fixed. Glad you're keeping the car too.
