Got the Vias delete stock manifold (vs SSIM) on yesterday and just tuned for it today. The butt dyno says the car feels less peaky (about the same topend) but the 2000-5000 midrange is noticeable stronger.

Ran up as far as 28 degrees of timing today (whole map) and saw no detonation. Going to use around 27 all around since I doubt any power is being made above that.

It was running low 12s A/F with the stock map, and I corrected for 13.5s from 3k-5500 then ramped down to 13.0-13.1 from 5700 to redline.

so is this mandatory to splice into the ECU for it to work? or is for certain things to read like A/F etc.

It has to intercept and change signals or it can't do anything, so you obviously have to splice into the ECU harness or build a PNP harness.

oh ok, just wanted to clarify, and thats coming from my350z where you told me to go lol, although I have contacted Forged Performance and they said their 4.2L Stoker will work in our cars, that would be beastly.

Ok got the wiring all cleaned up on the UTEC. Looks way better now!






Also took a pic of some stuff that came in the mail today that i'll be installing tomorrow. Brakes! Yes, they are dimpled. I just like how they look.

Yeah it really does look 100x better.

The brakes KICK ***! Man what a difference. Also my cables came in today so I can properly log A/F on the UTEC.

It's on the upper part of the floorboard with the mat covering it. The thing is pretty thick aluminum and doesn't have any switches or anything that you could step on, so it works fine there.

I also have the remote map selector which fit perfect into one of the empty spots next to the trunk release.

Yeah mine is basically under the glove box on the upper floor pan. I also have the tuner which I have mounted in the glove box and I ran the serial to USB cable under the carpet to the center console where it can be conveniently hidden but easy to pull out.

That question was answered early in the post, but I probably have a total time (not including some minor troubleshooting) of around 8-9 hours in just the install, not including prep which SurraTT can chime in on if he wants.

so I'd imagine for a first time install, expect a solid 14-20 hours of total work into this if you do everything right the first time. Or you could spend 5 minutes installing it with one of SurraTT's patch harnesses!

I finally spend the 24.95 to buy UTI from jeffsoftware.com and holy crap... It is awesome! The auto logging is genius, and the display and tables look JUST like HPtuners, which is an amazing tuning utility for most GM cars.

I can't believe I spent all that time using the hyperterminal interface to log and tune, UTI makes this thing way way easier to use! I rode down the interstate today with autologging on and did pulls on every ramp (to avoid getting pulled) and when I got home, I had a log file that looks like this! The spaces separate each pull/autologging event. The target AFR is default and I haven't modified it to my specs yet. I've since changed it to leave out some of the useless info and just include time, RPM, TPS, Load %, Knock, Timing, IAT, and W/B AFR. One of those logs was a 1st-3rd pull, and it appears to have taken about 10 seconds to get from 0-95 MPH... pretty impressive!

You need to adjust your min max maf settings to get to 100% LOD.

Also try out the auto tune then load UTI-ME to generate a new map. Takes about 3 or 4 runs to get it to the target.

Alright i'll do that with the maf. Looks like the max voltage it's seeing is 4.8 so I'll set the max to that.

I haven't tried messing with the auto tune yet. What kind of AF are you running with yours and how does your target AFR table look? Thanks!

I run 12.8 across the board N/A, the 3.5 seems to like that, 11.5 on spray.

You might want to play with the low maf voltage as well, some recommend around 3 to give you more load points to play with at WOT, otherwise they all seem to go to 100 right away, running a higher low maf voltage gives a better tuning range.

I ran an AFR on my slightly modded 03 auto with an Injen intake and it jumps to 13.1 initially when going to WOT then slowly richens to 12.5...disassembled the lower half of the intake(short ram) and stumping it to WOT starts the AFR at 12.2 then it bounces around 12.4-12.7 and the car seemed to accelerate faster with a slightly richer AFR on the initial opening into open loop operation. So I'm going to install the factory flex, MAF, MAF adapter and AEM dry flow filter. Then do some acceleration runs at my test track and see what the AFR looks like and how many seconds I reduced the run by to see if I improved...I need that Gtech bad! If I see some actual improvements I'll invest into a Berk Intake system! I was told that the short ram intakes complimented the Cattman headers better than the longer Injen design....

Well I richened out my A/F a good bit today, still needs some work but it definately feels quicker on the butt dyno. I need to add some fuel between 5500 and 5900 and pull some fuel from 3k-3800

I guess I need to change my TPS max so it reads 100% instead of 103% as a max, lol.
