Well a CF trunk isnt really going to save THAT much weight, and they are pretty pricey....

CF hood would be nice, but why do you want the vents? u can get a regular one from VIS or Carbon Creations...but i dont ever remember seeing anyone that makes a vented CF hood for the max (maybe im wrong). Your gona probably have to get that made...

But if you ask me, your going to want to keep as much weight in the rear since the weight distribution is going to be off with the RB.

yea, i agree with that.. if he'd used a VQ (basically half as long as a RB) and tucked it right against the firewall, it would be less of an issue but with a long heavy engine like that, you really have to work to get more weight on the rear axle. Cuz while the tranny and diff have some weight, the engine still weighs more than both of them put together.

I cant remember what he is using as a diff and half shafts, im too lazy to look in the thread. the weight added by the rear suspension installed should KIND of help the weight ratio. But I was also thinking IF the ration needed to be evened out, you could add some weights to the trunk to compensate. I know this would be somewhat counterproductive, however if done properly it would DRAMATICALLY change the geometry of the handling...I know people do this on go karts to "fine tune" the suspension by adding scuba tank weights to the farthest centers of the chassis (in that case 4 points)

Since its a boosted motor, the added wieght shouldnt be that much of a problem IMO. Adding the fuel cell the the farthest portion of the trunk should help ALOT too...given you have a big Cell and its full

Because you have the [/img] and backwards. it should be:
[1] [2] [3] blah blah blah [/3] [/2] [/1]
you have
[1] [2] [3] blah blah blah [/1] [/2] [/3]

And tkae out the quotes too...
or are you really trying to add links to those pics?
If you're just trying to post a pic, the only thing you need is the . you don't need the stuff.

damn...from page 1 to page 9 and this guy has had me going the whole time... alot of people give you props but i give you mad respect and im pretty effin surprised... I though that swappin a insanely built CVQ35 was enough but the RB26 just left me speechless, from the first page to this very damn comment... good stuff bro, i certainly believe in miracles now..

It doesnt...

Unless you can compare a boosted 2.6L Iron block inline 6 to an aluminum NA V6...

Apples and oranges IMHO

yeah cant really compare them but RB>VQ, Nissan/Datsun really made alot of great Inline-6 engines (RB, L series, etc)

Maxx maybe upload the vid to youtube and embed it on here?

I just don't see the point in all this fabrication and work to fit in a heavier RB engine when you could just boost the VQ? Or why not an SR swap?

I guess i don't understand his ultimate goal, drift, drag, autox? Or just kinda for "fun"?

Presumably its more the RWD than the engine

the question is: why not? I mean y do we even mod maximas instead of something faster. Cuz we can! Doing what everyone else is doing is boring, doing something new is innovative and fun.

Well for one dropping in an SR into an ALREADY 3k pound car make alot less sense than the RB26...Camon man, lets think about a motor with some torque here...

LS1 or HR VQ35 whould be choice for great weight distribution and overal performance and reliability. I am sure you could even probably get a LS1 swap in a max like this BAR'd here in Cali if you did it right and could get some CARB legal headers to fit...

Regardless its his project, and he is doing what he wants...Whatever anyone will say about his choice in the motor is totally negated by the fact that this guy is actually trying to do this and not just "talking" about it.

In all reality IF the weight distribution was already so out of wack after its all finished, 70% of the hard work and fabrication of the suspension is already done...it wouldnt be that hard to take out the RB out later on down the road and replace it with something like a VQ or an LS1...

Clee130 (retired moderator) had a picture with smoke from the rear tires ... And people thought he had a RWD maxima.
