Praying that the new cooler will make a huge difference, its more than double the overall size of my current 12"x8", new one is 22"x8" but 1" thicker! Plate style
You might want to consider a fan as well, I picked one off ebay and run it parallel with the rad fans. Its just held to the cooler with wrap ties but its held for 3 years now.

question I had a new tranny and the transgo reprogramming kit installed and now I have a lag before the car starts to move in first gear. It's not slipping it just revs to like 1800 rpm's then bang all at once it comes in. I can put it into first and it's fine but in drive it is really not fun at slow (parking lot speeds) it will rev and catch release then rev and catch(repeat) even when I hold the gas steady if I give it gas it is fine. Is that normal for this kit or do I need to look somewhere else. It acts like almost like it has a higher stall converter in it

I think somebody messed up with the Transgo install, it should not act like that. I have a 3500 stall converter and it still takes off nice and easy under part throttle regardless of the gear its in.

It's like someone who is learning to drive a stick and letting the clutch out to fast with out giving it enough gas

Thats not the HD2, it just the standard kit. The HD2 comes in a much larger box and costs $100+ depending on where you get it.
However, there in no board in either kit just springs, ***** and seals etc.

I just put on my transgo HD2 kit and my temperature increased alot. With stock VB normal driving conditions temps were about 150-165, now with the transgo they are at 180 under the same conditions. I dont get it....

UPDATE: I just spoke David from Transgo, he said it is perfectly normal. It is expected for the temperature to go up "once the pressure goes up the temperature will go up, now if it gets to 240 and up then something weird is happening, otherwise your good. at the 240s is when the fluid starts to break down"

As for my results, I have not driven enough but the short driving I did, i love how it shifts. instant, even at WOT it was instant. I still have the DR hooked up to a WOT switch. I only did one WOT run and it shifted awesome. The temps got real high though in 3rd gear. I wont go WOT again till my new cooler gets here. I really hope this cooler is as good as it sounds. its meant for 40,000 trucks lol.
So an aftermarket tranny cooler is required if you install the TransGo shift kit? I heard the stock one was OK.

Sorry for late reply. Yes I recommend you install an aftermarket cooler. the stock one actually warms up your fluid. Its only so much a cooler built into an already hot radiator can do.

I never looked at it that way. A "cooler" inside a hot radiator would heat up the fluid. Would I still need a cooler if I got the non-HD kit? And how much do coolers go for anyway? Thanks.

You should get a cooler even if you stay completely stock, a cooler is always a good thing, as long as you are not in -0 degree weather then you will need a bypass valve on the cooler for those cold days. Coolers range from 30-100+, depending on how big and efficient. B&M being the popular ones.

Sorry for the late reply. Can any shop install a cooler, or would I have to go to a more performance oriented shop? How long would it take to install? Thanks.

It is very easy to install a cooler, any shop should be able to do it. Do some research on it, you can do it yourself. its alot easier than you think.

It's nearly identical for the A32 & A33/A33B.

Fun stuff.

What's the major difference between the two kits? Price difference?

I just got off the phone with Larry at Transgo 626-443-7451. He said the RE4F04a-HD2 reprogramming kit will shift much harder than the RE4F04a shift kit. If you have a wife he suggested installing the RE4F04a shift kit.

I just ordered the RE4F04a shift kit.

I'll also be upgrading the solenoid valves with the 31940-80X25.

In the case of a track-only car, one could re-purpose the AC evaporation for a tranny cooler. Might even be good for another 2 quarts.
