Anyone do a VQ30-> VQ37 swap?

hmmm... understood... were there any dyno numbers???

When I'm farther along and working on it more, then I was planning on it... I have a build in the sponsors section on G20.net, but i havent had time over the last year to do much on it. Hopefully i can start getting somewhere with it again soon, I'd start a thread on it then... I just dont want to start a thread, and then have it sitting around for weeks, months with no updates...

None so far. And there probably wont be any dynos anytime soon. Track times are more likely if he doesnt decide to switch back to his '04 vq35 first. Its that bad..

Is this a full ECU swap? Pretty sure those smaller valves won't help things without the VIAS's dialed in - the lower portion of the intake tract is a little straighter and the cams have no overlap (altima tuning) so I'm pretty sure the power curve relies more on intake velocity than scavenging. My guess is swapping these 07+alt/09+max motors needs to be approached a little differently than the 02-08(max) ones. I'm curious to know how it was done.

Exactly my point. These motors run like crap with the a33/a32 ecu, untuned atleast. This is compared to the standard 02-06 3.5 swap. Its a stock 4th gen ecu by the way.

The put down some sick numbers with minimal mods in their original chassis though. I've seen 260whp through the 6 speed at 6500rpm with just intake and catback with the power curve looking like its still climing when it smacks redline.

Point taken. Cutting out the throat and force feeding it could very well change the story on a 3.0 gearset, but thats for the sadistic.

No offense to whoever installed/tuned it but I find it incredibly hard to believe that such an engine would run so poorly in good running condition, A32 ECU or not.

I didnt wanna comment but if an engine is running rough, 95% of the time its tuner error. My engine runs smooth, almost near stock feel, even with no EGR, EVAP, IACV, MAF still runs great.

Murano, Quest, Altima, Max. You can even use 08 models IIRC, someone just did that swap.
I think a new engine is in my future.. So, I want to confirm;

the 07/08 Maxima VQ35 should be the same swap as I did with the 02 VQ35?
That would also mean a 04-06 Altima will work too.. but the 07/08 Altima, and 09+ Maxima has a different engine and it would be more complex?

Do you have a link to someone doing the swap with an 08? At this point, I just want the car running again so I want to make sure the engine I buy will work the same. Of course using a newer engine will typically be less mileage on it so if the work is the same I want to go that route.

Thanks.

Try our racing guru Jime - he put a '07 maxima motor in his '95.

Looks like he is running the VQ35 ECU. I am still running a VQ30 ECU.
