96 ECU in a 99

Searching is hard because my keywords are too short.

Has anyone sucessfully done an ECU swap on a 99 Maxima? I'm really interested in making it work, and are the FSM diagrams are correct? If so I only have a few issues with the pins....

Reason why is because I would want a 96 JWT ECU in my car to use for main tuning, and I may throw on a piggy back to make tiny adjustments.

Thanks!

Look at DandyMax's fantastic writeup on the Emanage Ultimate - page 7 - he states that the 99 ECU has one connection that is different - the crank REF sensor goes to ECU pin 46 instead of pin 44.

I suppose you're enjoying warm weather there in Houston? Here in Kansas it's in the teens...

I don't know the details of every 99 ecu, thats why I didn't go into details but they are out there. And like stated above by swapping a few pins a 95-98ecu will work also

I bought a 96 jwt ecu from i30dvr, to fit my 99 and from what i belive, the ecu has to be programed for the nats.

yes...other than a few diff. pins the 99 ecu has to be reprogrammed for the nats for security issues. if you don't do it, the car won't start because it thinks its being stolen lol....

grey99 Its more than one, just 3 or 4, unless the FSMs are incorrect.

JWT seemed pretty firm about them having NEVER done a 99 before nor will they ever do it. Technosquare... well they need to be nicer to a potential customer over the phone, I highly doubt I will be giving them my business.

can JWT do this re-programming?? or would I just go about fooling NATS?

I'm running a 95 ecu in my 99. I did a writeup a while ago. You'll probably find it by doing a search for threads i've started.

Edit: found it

It may sound crazy but you can't go by what jwt says sometimes. They told me they never made a ecu like mine and didn't know what I was talking about when I know they made two for sure. After three weeks of going back and forth they finally remembered and agreed to do another

I'm 90% sure that the 99 FSM is known to be wrong - I'm building my Greddy EU breakout adapter using DandyMax's diagrams - but of course I'm sticking with my 99 ECU...

Maybe someone knows about this? It looks like Whlimi's writeup has all your answers...

YAY! Exactly what I was looking for! Also looking at your sig, you seem to have (almost) everything I want in my car, lol.
