trans issue upshifting please help!
Hey guys!
I didn't even know there was a discussion like this other than the 5th gen forum that could possibly assist me with my issue...
I got a 2000 maxima se, auto, 150,000 KMS, bought it from a guy who was like 70 who ran the local service department at the local nissan, well maintained vehicle, it was the nicest one I looked at and being the guy ran service at nissan I figured I couldn't go wrong...
Well originally when I bought it, it ran fine.. I thought, I started noticing in the first start of the day, when leaving my parking lot a slow speeds I could almost fell the vehicle hesitate, it would shift to 2nd and I wouldn't notice it until I stopped and started off again. It continues to do this until it warms up, I started to notice it cruising around when ever the rpm was around 1500.... It felt like really light misses this started happening when the car warmed up I originally started to think vac leak... Did the gaskets... still there, then on to the next... Maf... Still there, I left the batt. Unplugged over night after pumping the brake peddle to drain what ever power was left. My tps has a nice steady climb from . 48 to 4.97 ohms (if I remember but I know it was in spec), I went to a shop and got them to smoke the vehicle for any other vac leaks because I was confident that was it... Everything was ok. I replaced the fuel pump and screen, checked fuel pressure, it was ok, 02 sensors ok... And the list continues...
But ill explain what I've figured out soo far now, sorry to ramble...
When the vehicle is started, and I take off, the feeling of a miss is actually, the vehicle, what I believe is it trying to prematurely shift into second but its not allowing it too, other than that the cold part of driving is ok, being that I don't mash on it which I don't! I do notice a nice firm 1st to second crisp shift when its cold, 2nd to 3rd is more "lazy" and fine the rest of the way up!
Once its warm my 1st to 2nd shift seems a bit more "lazy" and so do the rest... ( I have to say there is NO rpm spike at all, I'm confident that my tranny is a-ok... For now
) unless I'm feathering the throttle then it shifts very nice. I notice that driving the car a wot! It will shift a bit quicker than cruising speeds . I've notice that I can barley spin my tires when its dry, I've lost some 0 to 60 time ( my best was like 9.52 seconds) and its because of the exra 1/2 each gear has to take to shift! Solinoids are possible obviously, but all of the at once??? Could it be my torque conv. Is messed? It locks and unlocks at the right speed. Maybe valve body? But valve body or t.c. Would affect my downshifts to wouldn't it? My down shifts are fine.... Maybe my. Line pressure?
I'm soooooo frustrated and baffled....
Any imput would be awesome befor I take it somewher and dump a bunch of cash on them trying to resolve this for me. I just tried to reground the trans, I do feel a difference but nothing large, I grounded a 8 guage fron the batt ground mounted fron the driver side frame rail to one of the trans mount bolts.
