i know everybody is running headers now but me lol... now ive done a search n is bumping a fairly old thread because there havent seem to be anyone who tried the OBX 3" Y-pipe and how was the fitment...

sure its n unequal length but im right on the buy it now button based on the fitment on a 95-01 maxima... dont really care for the dynoed numbers ill get my own... no i dont want warpspeed or cattmans, i want the 3" Y and would kindly like to know info on this particular Y... no other brands

says on ebay 1 was sold... im installing it myself n will not deal with no fitment issues, if i was the only 1 driving my car then sure but i have maybe a few hours into installing this or bust....

Knowing that it's made by OBX, there will probably be fitment issues.

 

thats true and normally a safe assumption but even back when i had my 4th gen i had bought those tuning pros shorty headers and only used the Y-pipe and it lined up decent so idk if these would also... i found the buyer on ebay but he set his account to private (who does that on ebay lol) so i cant even ask the question... im sure the seller is clueless lol

 

I have one of those eBay y-pipes in my basement that the previous owner modified and all he did was bend it a little. It might line up decent and it might not. It's a gamble.

I used to have a stillen unequal y-pipe. The sound was superior to the equal length y i'm running now.

well i went from stillen y-pipe with hks axleback to obx headers with test pipe and cattman 3" catback.

it sounded a lot deeper hard to describe, but it was so long ago i don't know if i even remember correctly.

When i was still auto my setup droned like a **** unless i was going 80. now with the 5spd it's silent when cruising at highway speeds (because of the RPM range).

maybe i'll borrow a decent mic somewhere and take some samples. 2 step sound sick tho.

 

only when i was auto with a y-pipe and obx and a broken KS.

was like 160hp but on a mustang dyno.

I'm debating just doin a dyno run for ***** and gigs before i do the 3.5 swap now with full 3" catback, test pipe headers emanage ultimate revving to 7200,nwp spacers and all that mumbo jumbo

 

why not man... go for it... might surprise youself... one of my boys DEK is puttn in work on a lot of 3.5 cars out there now... i like the challenge of the DEK making 3.5 power... its moreso the reliability im interested in
the equal length headers make the exhaust flow sounds a lil bit smoother IMO...
