A33 valve springs and A33 camshaft on a A32

Titles says it all. I am rebuilding the long block of my 1995 A32 and was going to pick up some valve springs from a A32 but I took a look at the A33 valve springs and they seem a bit longer and can handle more pressure.

A32 FSM page 67

A33 FSM page 75

Everything but the valve springs and the camshafts look the same. The different camshaft from the A33 has a different timing.

Do I benefit by using the A33 four camshafts and the A33 valve springs on my A32?

Thanks

Pretty much. I have checked the specs of all my current A32 valves (valve head, valve stem, etc etc). I found that just a few A32 valve springs are out of specs.

I am curious if I can just take the camshafts from the A33 into in my A32 cylinder heads. The timing looks better with the A33 camshafts.

I guess the more important question is it safe to put all four A33 camshafts into my A32 cylinder heads? Since putting the A33 camshafts will change my engines timing.

Thanks

Better yet... Lets stay on topic!

Some people just want a reliable car, or the fun of rebuilding a motor.

Some people want to throw 'ish together for the 's.

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

Some people keep rambling on and on and on and on and on........

Good job answering the question

and OP if you didn't see it in my post, the answer is yes - you can use the vq30dek(00-01) valvetrain in a vq30de(95-99)

By A33, I hope you're referring to the VQ30DE-K. VQ35DE springs would be a downgrade.

+1 to Kev.

Will I need camshaft adapters? In fact for future reference how would I know if I need camshaft adapters when using different camshafts?

No cam adapters needed for those. Keep the vq30de intake cams and vq30dek exhaust if you want some benefots (not much)... I thought you were putting in vq35de stock cams
