I don't really understand why people are always knockin' Rockford Fosgate on here. They make pretty good stuff, maybe a little expensive, but it's not bad. Try a couple Power HX2's and tell me those suck...

If they suck they are out of phase. Change the polarity on your subs and then they'll blow. What do you want? To suck or to be blown?

I think the common opinion of RF over the years is more based on the low-end consumer-level products, such as the Punch series or Punch XLCs even. If I can remember they've produced a line equivalent to the HX2's for a while now. I've heard the HX2s and they're an alright sub, but for what someone told me a couple weeks ago they run for pricewise, you can do better. I could be wrong though - I can't find a price on the net right now.

Kicker and JL W3s are the best? Why not JL W7s? Kickers subs have always seemed a little too sloppy for me (some series more than others), but they do their job as far as SPL goes.

It depends on what you plan on spending...

If money is no object.. get some 12" or 15" Adire Brahma's... if you have the power for them. They can also be placed in small sealed boxes.

Even the shivas will probably sound better than the rf's at 125 a piece. I got 2!

Who even cares if a sub is nice? Unless you consider the emotions that you want to have when listening to a sub. And, unlike what was said above, a brahma does not need full power to sound good. It will sound as much better than another speaker with 250 watts, as it does compared to that same other speaker with 1200 watts.

He's right. I sub is there to do one job. Reproduce bass. I havent seen anyone actually critically listen to a sub. As long as it can produce accurate bass, its a good sub.

Yes I think when people talk bad about RF subs, it is more directed at the Punch Z level. I have the HE subs and they aren't the best in the world at all, but they sound great in terms of moderate SPL and great SQ. They're great subs. Is there something better out there, and probably for a similar price?-most likely. I've always been partial to Rockford Fosgate and as far as I'm concerned, they make excellent products.
