If you really want bass from a 12 and bass that's clean you gotta get an Adire Audio Brahma 12. It has the most linear motor design of any conventional cone. It also has probably the largest X-max of any car sub.

I've seen some a lot of front speaker suggestions in this thread, but you guys are playing with toys. Step up to something like CDT's High Defintion series or even better their Eurosport Competition series. Then again Steve probably doesn't want to spend his entire budget on a set of components.

i realize that i am gonna have to up my budget after looking around. i'm getting components for the front, prolly boston RC620 or Diamond Audio HEX. both are around 200-300 bucks. then some eclipse or boston's for the back, a kenwood 75x4 RMS Amp. at least 1 Farad of Capping, and prolly a PPI amp for the sub. i'm looking for used amps now and i think iu can stay under 1000 bucks.

Need money?

Solution: Sell your cat-back.

That amp isn't even on sounddomain or phoenix gold site anymore.. which means its discontinued.. so i hope who ever is giving you that amp is giving you warranty also.. because.. you ain't getting it from PG.. and why would you want a 500 watt amp over a 1200 watt amp for a few $$$ less is beyond me..

take it from someone who has bought and replaced stereo equipment over and over again.. GET THE JBL .. trust me.. but you won't listen and in 4 months you will be posting.. i need a better amp to power my subs.. anyone has any ideas? and if you get the IDMax.. which you probably wont.. you will need that 1000 watts.. that bad boy takes 1000 - 1800 RMS

the numbers on the auction are wrong, it's a 500Wattx1 at 4 OHM. the kappa is a 4 ohm amp so it's a 100 watt power difference for over 100 dollars difference plus i get the 1 farad cap with it value new around 125ish. i'll be sticking with the kappa for a while i think so i think this should suit my needs.

plus the THD is lower on the Phoenix Gold and it has more of a bass boost control. although it is white, but i think that would make you like it white rims boy

get what you want.. i am telling you right now.. if you amp those Diamonds the subs won't keep up..

i will just wait till i see you next time.. play the setup i told you to get.. then tell you over and over i told you so.. hey if delio, CKNY and deezo are going with the setup i suggested something has to be right..

but i forget.. you are just leaving hte stock radio stage.. it is unfair of me to try to push you to stage 3..

you still need to go through the 300 wattt subs and medium setup before you can run with us.. see the thing is.. deezo.. delio.. CKNY and myself have already been at the level you are going.. well most of us are at the level you are going.. so i was just trying to save you the trouble.. but i guess everything has to be done in stages huh?

its like a guy comes on the org and says.. ok i got $4000 to spend.. and everyone goes.. well get body kit, get rims, get this.. get that.. but tell you the truth.. if had to do it all over.. i would have gotten an SC first.. but thats because i already know.. just trying to save you that trouble.. but hey.. take your baby steps.. its always good to learn as you go along

well if i didn't already buy the infiniti i might have gotten something else but from what i've heard it hits pretty good. like you said baby steps. i'll have it for 6 months and want to upgrade BUT i'll be able to pawn it off on one of my friends for what i paid for it all cus "i'll install it all for you" so i don't lose. i lost like 30 bucks on the basslink that i had, not bad for baby step #1

Steve,

This is my set up. I managed to get just about every piece at a discount, although I had to shop around a lot. NH shops have some folks willing to deal, and there is no sales tax! If you ever want to listen to my system or want to know where/how much I paid, just let me know. I designed it for accuracy. Yeah, it goes loud, but it certainly isn't going to win any SPL contests. The Infinity Perfect components are very bright and accurate. Depending on the type of music you most frequently groove to, you may love bright speakers, or you may hate 'em...some music seems to be all mid bass...bleck! I listen to lots of different stuff...so I love 'em.

Good luck, and I wanna hear it when your done! Although, I think your car sounds great with the stereo off! The only Formula One Nissan out there!!!!

Sorry you did not make it to Hopkinton this past saturday...we had a good time with the S2000 crowd. Clark was there...good to meet him. As was Jason, and blkstnvlymax (Brian?? I think)...or whatever his screen name is. Good people. Good time. Probably see ya soon. I am back to debating the intake thing...dealer/warranty worries.

Garrett-

The system i have in my car sounds great and with a 2nd and 3rd place in my local sound competitions in the novice section i must be doing something right

Head unit is a VDO Dayton CD4802 which is running 4 x 6.5" Sony component speakers with 1" tweeters. In the trunk there is a ported sub enclosure with 2 x 12" Magnat subs (400w RMS)run by 2 x 500w Magnat amps and another 300w amp running the 2 x 250w Sony 6x9 on the back shelf. The subs are all feed through 2 x Stinger HPM power caps (1 farad)and the whole floor, inc trunk and all 4 doors have been lined with sound proofing (brown bread) and all the gear was purchaced for under 2500euros about $2600

i think i've decided on the rest of my system once i get the money for it
-MB Quart HEX Components up front
-Boston Rally in the back
-Eclipse 75Wx4 RMS AMP
-Phoenix Gold XS2500 AMP and 1 Farad Cap for amp(already ordered)

i'll keep my sub for a while till i get sick of it.

<< is going with.....

Eclipse Source Components up front (4441, CH 5061)
JL Audio 500/5 Amp
JL Audio XR-653-CS 3 Ways Components
JL Audio 12W3 (But I am drooling over the new 12W6 and would consider throwing in a 500/1 to run that)
Audio Control DQT Equalizer
