Would this be possible...

Hey guys I'm redoing my stereo systems and was wondering if I can get somehelp in the following matter....

I have a Bose system right now and I'm installing a new headunit and 4 speakers (2 5x9 up front and 2 6x9 in rear) with 2 10's subs in the trunk. I used to power the subs with my 500 watt two channel amp. What I want to do in the new system is bypass the amp from th headunit all together. I want to use my old 500 watt amp to power either the front or rears speakers only and buy a 4 channel amp to to power my subs and the two remaining front or rear speakers. The reason I'm doing this is I would like to control the bass level on the subs and with my old amp I can't do this but on some of the new amps (2 or 4 channel) I see that they have remote bass level controls. I would like to really reuse my old amp since it is a nice one. Is this a feasible setup? Any recommendation is appreciated. Also does anyone know whether the bass level control on a 4 channel amps controls the bass level on all four channels or can you select 2 channel?

Thanks.

I have a 93. Can someone tell me if this is the best way to set this up or would there be some other feasible way to get bass control? maybe an EQ?
