I just installed my new deck last night, everything went near perfect. Soldered all the connections inside, then went outside and put everything in. Can't believe everything works. Very strange.

I'm using the Scosche kit and all the wires are fine, shame the bezel color is a little off, but someday I may spend the coin on the GXE bezel. Overall I like it a lot, but I got a deck that sticks out due to the motorized face style. Sony CDX-M730. Sweet deck, matches the dash colors real well though. Just thought I'd celebrate with you guys before I tear it all apart to install my amps and subs.

Anyone else have good luck with the same Sony deck? How about the GXE bezel, worth the cost? Anyone find a kit that matches better than Scosche?

Try finding something that matches the aftermarket wood trim the dealerships put on when the 95s came out. I still just have a nice fat gap under my hu, indecisive on what I'm gonna do. Right now I just call it a functional "ventilation gap".

It's good that everything worked out ok. Let's hope the luck continues as you move through your install.

 

Nice deck blizz, that's the model I have in my T-bird, very sweet indeed. Served me well. I've thought about going aluminum dash and fixing the not matching problem that way, but I'm not ready to make that leap and then not like it later.

That "air vent" you've got makes for nice access to some of those wires in there, almost a good thing with the way installs go.

I soldered all but the remote wire, and have that & the RCAs taped down with e-tape on the top of the storage unit below. Course, once I finally do something about it, the remote will come loose...

It's also nice and inviting to thieves, which sucks. I dont really see any easy way around that one.



The only thing I dont like about the deck is that the HPF, when activated, filters on EVERYTHING, even the sub-woofer pre-out (great design decision, filtering low frequencies out from the sub).
Have you noticed this in your T-Bird, or do you even use the built-in HPF?

 

I don't run the filter at all, I run the low pass on my sub amp for them, works better, but I noticed the same thing. Using the sub out and controlling the sub volume from the deck isn't very good either on that deck. Seems to work better if you adjust the bass output + on the deck or get your settings all setup on the amp instead. Less control, but no nasty distorted bass either.

 

Huh, I've never used the sub output on my sony deck. Sorry it muddies the bass. I hope the Alpine I'm planning to get doesn't do that. Really glad to hear everything worked out well.
