Remove both rear speakers and deposit in closest trash recepticle. That is the best advice for rear speakers.

Sorry, not what, I meant why? I don't sit in back so rear speakers are an unecessary evil. Do you sit in back? I doubt it. Worry about the speakers that set up your stage.
Don't you ever have anyone else ride in the back seat of your car? If so, I'm sure that they would also like to hear the mids/highs. It would probably get to be pretty annoying in the back seat if all you can hear is THUMP THUMP THUMP!

Whether you sit in front or back the stage should be in front. Therefore the need for front speakers and no need for rear. Any half-way decent system will have a stage up in the front of the car, not the rear deck.

Well, in an ideal situation yes. But, in case you really don't know bass is non-directional. At least if you cross over low enough and have low enough distortion. But, with the eights I'll have in the doors next spring, I should have up front bass down to below 40 hertz. Clean and accurate bass, not some run of the mill 10% distortion sub bass. If you consider the tranfer function of the vehicle I should be able to run without a sub.
